What is the difference between a Cimex and an Orbot besides price?

Thanks,

BIG difference

Cimex has three counter-rotating heads.

The Unique Cimex 3-Head System

A unique feature of Cimex Rotary Machines is the patented
400 rpm planetary 3-brush mechanism, incorporating a counter rotating system which not only ensures a more thorough cleaning action, but also allows greater operational control with a torqueless action. This 3-brush system makes the operator's task much easier by reducing operator fatigue as it produces unmatched scrubbing performance.

The unique planetary 3 head counter-rotating design enables the Cimex to scrub in ALL directions with each cleaning pass.

The Orbot is an orbital machine with a single drive board that oscillates.

Entirely different machines with a completely different operating system, although there are some similarities in the design of the flaoting heads.

Horses for courses.

Difference of Orbot vs Cimex

November 15 2008, 9:51 AM

I can see the difference on paper. It would be nice to see a side by side comparison ie:

*manuverability- on the floor and in and out of a vehicle

*operator fatigue factor- does one affect the lower back more or less during a 5 hour period give or take

*speed and efficiency of cleaning

*customer response on equipment looks, like wow factor

*maintenance and cost of operation ie., what it will cost for a CGD encap job of 10k sq.ft. **pads, chems, set up time

*Team concept- one man team vs two man team and which system would work best and why

*cleaning versatility- commercial and residential

I'm sure that for a purchase decision that this list can be added too. It can also be prioritized depending on the most important issues per the purchaser.

Just curious,

James

*manuverability- on the floor and in and out of a vehicle

Very similar, while lighter you need either a ramp or two men if you have the sprayborg.

*operator fatigue factor- does one affect the lower back more or less during a 5 hour period give or take

About the same, if it bother you to bend to change pads, then the Cimex is an advantage.

*speed and efficiency of cleaning

Cimex is faster, we have had top speed of cleaning around 1200 sq/ft with orbot.

*customer response on equipment looks, like wow factor

Orbot is more impressive in looks.

*maintenance and cost of operation ie., what it will cost for a CGD encap job of 10k sq.ft. **pads, chems, set up time

I would guess the Orbot will cost more, but probably not much. Fiber plus pads wear out as do pads for OP.

*Team concept- one man team vs two man team and which system would work best and why

I think each man needs a machine, with a three man crew.
We use the Orbot in place of HWE, so the dirtiest gets the Orbot and the rest we use the Cimex on.

*cleaning versatility- commercial and residential

Orbot is a little smaller in size, so it would be a better fit for residential cleaning if you choose not to HWE.

Richard,
What is your clean rate when using the Cimex?

Also, if you were starting a company to focus on commercial cleaning, and could only buy one, which machine would you buy?...and what size would it be since you would be owner operator.

I have both as well, and would recommend starting with the Cimex if you are going heavy into commercial.

The Orbot is well made, but the Cimex is built like a tank and should be able to last many years of high volume, long hour work.

The Orbot is very easy to go up stairs with whereas the Cimex is not.

I'm not sure if there is a better value in the carpet cleaning industry than the Cimex.

Thats good to know. It's such a hard decision to make because I don't have HWE available and my concern was what to do when the carpet is heavily soiled. Would the Mex still plow through it?

If you do not have HWE avaliable to you, then you would want the Orbot so you can use bonnets to extract when you come across a dirtier carpet! You can get small 8" bonnets for the Cimex but the orbot would be much easier to use in that application.
