Attn: Rick - Domain name purchase inquiry

Hey Rick,

A few weeks ago you told us that you required Excellentsupply.com, I was trying to find that topic but not sure where it is now. I also have a similar site that i'd like to purchase, went on the registered owners site and found out it's for sale, no price, just had a contact form to contact them in regards to it.

How did you go about purchasing yours? Was it a negotiating procedure? Obviously i'd like to pay the least as possible, the services for the domain i'm looking to purchase has been discontinued and has not been an active site for well over a year now. What is a fair price, how is the price put together for a site that has been "non-existant for well over a year"?

Any tips?

Thanks,

Bill

Thx Shorty, saw that now. I will try to contact the company and see what they are looking for it, hopefully it won't be some greedy number like Rick had to go thru in the start, who knows.

People who buy and sell domain names are typically poachers looking to score the most amount of money possible for what they deem to be a choice domain name. Expect them to try to extract as much as they can. That being said, play hard ball with 'em and try to push them to lower their price. Don't let them know you're drooling for the name and stick to your guns. I scored my deal at the end of the month and I got the distinct impression that they had a quota to reach because the woman I spoke with told me that if I could be certain that I'd buy the domain "today", she would check with her boss and try to get the deal pushed through. In the end I was able to shave down their asking price drastically by pushing for a low price. Give it your best shot, after all the economy is down and they want to move domain names. Let us know how you make out.
