Spot & Stain

I went to a spot & stain class a couple of years ago and the person giving the class was a master cleaner and changed his business from strickly carpet cleaning to spot & stain business only and he said makes a great deal of money at it. Does anyone out there have anything like that going on and if you do what do you charge and how do you charge? I love the Cimex and will not let that go. I would like to be a "Spot & Stain Specialist" my self in my city because no one company is doing it. That would be good for business, "Afterglow Spot & Sain Specialist". Sound good huh? Many poeple that I know do not charge extra for the spots and stains, it is included in their price.

Thanx :~}

If you go that route it would strickly on a hourly rate, impossible to have a preset price for that type of service. The good side of that is you can charge like other trades, from the time you leave your office until you finish the job. I guess the next question would be is there a demand for that type of service. I know a few people that do that. but they also do mill inspections, and spot dying

I charge a min. of $60 for spot cleaning, and sometimes it only takes 20 min to clean, so I guess that COULD be a decent business, never thought of that!

$60.00 is fine for 20 minutes but what about travel time etc.etc.

The thing that would worry me is that stains are so unpredictable. How would you make money when the stain doesn't come out? At least if you're cleaning all of the carpet as well, they might accept the fact that one stain is permanent. But if that's all you're showing up for, pretty hard to justify charging them if it does not come out.

That is why you need to be more than a cleaner trying to remove stains. You need to be a master at spot dying or patching stains with new carpet.
