Got my Orbot - couple questions

December 11 2008 at 6:35 PM
Derek

Jeff said they checked to make sure the sol pump worked b4 shipping. said they used water. temps at night fall to 17 degrees.

question 1: should i keep it indoors to keep the sol pump from bursting??

if so, this is something they should consider when shipping to various parts of the world.

i plan on using it tomorrow for a resi job. i dont plan on using the Sprayborg cause of the freezing issues, but the Sprayborg is still attached to my Orbot.

question 2: when i turn the Orbot on to clean with, does there have to be water in the pump while i am cleaning, so the pump doesn't burn up??

or will it only burn up if the sol tank is empty and i press the right handled black solution pump button?

any1 know what i mean?

question 3: what is the yellow plug (female end) for under the sol pump?

thanx --- Derek.

Congradulations on getting your machine-
Like portables you have to keep the pump from freezing. I suggest either removing from the machine and taking in at night, I hear they go on and off easily. Other option is keep a windshield antifreeze in the system but then when you wnat to use it you have to make sure the antifreeze is all ran out.
The spray system will only spray when using the switch not sure if the pumpm is running all the time I would think no, you should be able to hear it running. If your worried about it and want to make sure its not running unplug it from the power source. Not sure what the yellow plug is for I beleive Jeff H. had told me it was for other options that make be forthcoming.

Yellow Plug runs the pump only and the pump will run a soon as you plug it in.

Now realize that the only other way you can run the pump is with the Orbot head spinning. I keep my unit in the van and run windshield washer fluid through the system it does not take much the run it out of the system.

I have an inverter and a generator so rinsing the system out before I enter any place is easy. I also have a heater in the van to keep things warm but I am not taking a chance did that once and blew a pump never again every tool and pump gets winterized along with the heater in the van.

I really like my Orbot if it kept high pro pad on it It be even better.

I have no idea what it would be like to deal with winter weather. Freezing parts and lines? Wow. Things you take for granted. It did rain a lot today though.

2 questions havent been answered, any help? :D

December 12 2008, 12:56 AM

thanx for the help thus far!!

question 2: no one has really answered that one with a definitive answer. yes the pump is always running or no it is not?

which leads to....

question 3: Jeff V. says yellow plug (which is only a female end) is for "other options that may be forthcoming.", while David H. says it IS for the pump.

well if it is for the pump, what do i plug into that female end?? i am thinking this is a "newer" model and the yellow female plug is not for the pump but heck i wanna know for sure!!! lol

an instruction manual would be nice to answer basic questions. i dont wanna burn the thing up already.

thanx for the feedback fellas! i look forward to your replies in the a.m.

I think you misunderstood David's answer. By plugging the solution pump into the yellow plug, the whole machine doesn't need to be on in order to use the solution pump. When it's plugged in the way it normally is, the machine needs to be on in order for the solution pump to be activated with the button.

As for the pump burning up, I am almost certain that the red button is a momentary power switch.

If I was designing this machine, that's what I would do. It would be much more complicated to have a button electronically control a valve to open and release pressure after the pump.

The pump is not always on you need to push the red button on the right for it to go on.

The Yellow pug thing. You unplug where the machine is is normally. The Plug next to the yellow one and atrtached it to the yellow one.

BTW when I said the pump will work on its own as soon as you pug it in I mean it just that way. If there is juice running to the plug end as soon as you attach the yellow female end the pump runs on its own.

Again the pump is a DEMAND pump which means it only runs when you demand it IE hit the button.

Any question feel free to email or call me

Off to strip a floor YUCK at least the 65 cents a sq ft make me a little happer

yellow plug - the official answer is

December 12 2008, 2:45 PM

Jeff from Hruby called me (as did Drew) and explained that the yellow female end is for a heating element. the euro machines on 220v have that heating element in it. in the USA on 110v there is no heating element as of yet, due to amperage requirements of that element.

it isn't for the sol pump, at least not for the machines they are making now (dunno what it is for on you fella's machines).

mine also has the new switches. there is no longer 2 red buttons on the handles. on the left handle is a red toggle switch. on the right handle is the black sol pump switch.

you fellas were correct, the sol pump ONLY is on when my right handled black switch is engaged. so i can run the machine with no solution in the pump and not worry about it burning up. i cant, however engage that black switch when there is no solution in the pump, lest it burn up.

thanx for the help fellas and i hope this explains some things to other new Orbot owners happy.gif --- Derek.

Derek-

You know what I was thinking about the extra plug could be used for? Occationally we all get those rooms that are to dark to really see good, well I was thinking about a quick detach light for mounting on the handle, and plug into the extra plug. If you use a shop light shock resistant bulb aka hard surface bulb it should keep from hurting the light element. Really only need about 100 watt. Just thoughts LOL

I still think my idea about mounting the 3M multi sprayer to the machine and again using the extra plug, with quick disconnect going to the spary jets.

Thanks Derek I'll have to call and find out why when I disconnect off the black plug into the yellow one the pump runs.

must have something to do with the wiring, as long as it will not hurt anything I'll keep using it that way makes winterizing easy.

Derek can you spray with out the main unit running with the new switches?

The idea about connecting the multisprayer to the Orbot sounds interesting. However, what is the GPM of the multisprayer pump? I would imagine that it is a much smaller pump than the one the Sprayborg uses. The psi ratings might be similar.

It may not spray enough volume to move at a quick enough pace. I have a battery sprayer and the pump in it is tiny in comparison to the Sprayborg.
