Recession..Restoration & orbot question

December 25 2008 at 12:09 PM
Matt

Just touching base on what was said about the recession and business slowing down, etc.

Some one mentioned associating your self with a restoration business that handles insurance claims. That is what we do.

Thank god we do. It is a needed paid for service, and I am VERY fortunate to have a friend that owns a local franchise. Winter time is tough enough, and we have had almost no calls for carpet cleaning (we also lost two weeks of business because of a massive ice storm)

But, thanks to this restoration company we are busy, with fire/soot clean ups and water damage rug cleanings. We were even able to justify setting up a rug wash pit section at our shop to increase revenue from these damages.

Just thought it might be helpful to pass that along...Most restoration companies do the carpets & uph themselves, however it is NOT their bread and butter...if they are busy enough, you just charge them less than what they collect from the insurance and that is their referal fee. Try it!

Oh and on a curious note: is this machine the same as the orbot? http://cgi.ebay.com/20-Low-Moisture-Carpet-Cleaning-Machine_W0QQitemZ110327989985QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?_trksid=p3286.m20.l1116

This is the CX20 manufactured by Clark at Orbitech. Very different from the Orbot.

Email me if you would like more info on the differences.

the machine that you speak of is made by a company here in Birmingham, Al. you can probably get it cheaper direct from then ( Orbitec Inc. ask for Clark) i've got two of them only set back they kinda heavy so if your doing a lot of transporting get yourself a ramp.

It also seems as though the it takes up lot more space Than Orbot. doesn't look like the handle goes in upright position.

Orbot goes upright and folds down to 30 inches for space saving. Its less bulky and has interchangable sol tanks.

You can pre spray & scrubb then clean simply changing out sol tanks. Time saver and time is money.

Thanks
