Drop Bear

Was chatting to a neighbour over our back fence and had to step back to let this little fella through. Wasn't in any hurry and happily posed for a photo.

do they bite?

'cos they do, generally they try to scurry away from you, although a lot of them in the "hands on" animal parks will allow you to pick them up. Look further down wink.gif

how often do you see them?

Depends what area you are in.
Up in the tropics, we never see them apart from in an animal park, they prefer the cooler climes.
Unfortunately you do see a lot run over by vehicles down south. Go for a walk in the sticks in their areas and look up in the forks of gum trees.

can u pick them up?

Would you like a stranger picking you up ???
They have a tendency to urinate over you to show their affection for you.
They can also scratch and bite if they are a bit more upset.

Like a lot of wild animals, some do become more friendly when in constant contact with humans, or I should say, more tolerant.

Ooroo,

Shorty.

PS ::: Beware of the original DROP BEARS.

I've seen the light, and changed my wicked ways. wink.gif

It's the koala mating season at the moment, (although it seems like it is all year round) so the males are travelling around a bit looking for company. The park behind my place is a koala corridor, basically linking areas of koala habitat together. They are quite common around here but you have to look with your eyes open to see them. We even have a Koala hospital. http://www.portmacquarieinfo.com.au/accom_result1/the-koala-hospital/>
