I bought it when he first got popular - a decade ago or more now. There are a number of cleaners who seem to like JP. But his stuff didn't fit my style personally. And as mentioned above, it's more geared toward residential than commercial.
What I honestly got from buying the package back then was a feeling of loss. I invested a nice chunk of money and didn't really feel satisfied with what I received. However that investment was a turning point for me. I had invested all this money, and felt that I had little to show for it. I began exploring what was out there in the field of marketing. So it was at that point that I became a fairly serious student of marketing. I began reading book after book on marketing and business development.
So I'm happy to say that I can indirectly attribute my investment in Piranha to learning how to market. If I hadn't blown that money, I doubt that I would have become serious about learning marketing. It was the kick in the pants I needed. And for that I am grateful.
Rather than investing in a marketing package, you might consider getting SERIOUS about learning marketing on your own. Committing to learning marketing may not fit everyone's taste, but I enjoyed it a lot. I feel like the old adage applies here - "teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime". When it comes to marketing, I'm happy to say that I learned how to fish.
I have a number of books in my collection. Here are a few of the better ones that I've read. I would recommend any (or all) of these...
The E-Myth Revisited by Michael Gerber
(You can't start marketing till you have "systems" in place for your business)
I have most of the books by Dan Kennedy and they're pretty good.
(Dan Kennedy had a big influence on JP)
The 22 Immutable laws Of Branding by Al Ries and laura Ries
Positioning The battle For Your Mind by Al Ries and Jack Trout
Marketing Warfare by Al Ries & Jack Trout
Experiential Marketing by Bernd Scmitt
Triggers by Joseph Sugarman
How To Drive Your Competition Crazy by Guy Kawasaki
Cold Calling Techniques That Really Work by Stephan Shiffman
The 25 Sales Habits of Highly Successful Salespeople by Stephan Shiffman
The Little Red Book of Selling by Jeffery Gitomer
How I Raised Myself From Failure To Success In Selling by Frank Bettger
Customers For Life by Carl Sewell
The Power of Nice by Linda Kaplan & Robin Koval
The following books are considered CLASSICS in marketing, and the marketing theories contained in them are still valid. They're fun to read too....
Tested Advertising Methods by John Caples
My Life In Advertising / Scientific Advertising by Claude Hopkins
Ogilvy On Advertising by David Ogilvy
That group of books will get you started. Another idea would be to go into any large book store and browse through the business books. That's where I head whenver I have time to kill. Reading business books has become kind of an addiction for me now. You may find it helpful too.
