How NOT to run a business

June 2 2009 at 11:35 AM

Joe DeSouza

I posted this on the ICS board, and figured it would be good here, too...This really is a testimony to Rick and his staff of the difference between excellent supply and one of their "competitors", if you want to call them that...LOL!

THANKS A LOT, HOST

I signed up to go to the HOST school 2 weeks ago...figured, hey, there in my neighborhood, and maybe I can glean some info from them, and learn some alternative commercial cleaning methods & marketing...would you believe I drove 45 min. to the hotel, and the hotel manager told me they cancelled on Sunday...Not one phone call or email from HOST telling me it was cancelled!

I immediately went to my local distributor (who is a HOST distributor amongs other things) to see if he knew what was going on - He is fuming! He knew a few of his customers signed up for it...He's going to call them and give them heck...one good thing for me is that he felt bad and gave me about $50 worth of chems to make up for it, even though it's not his fault.

Hey HOST, if you see this post, shame on you for messing up a few owner / operator's day! All it takes is one phone call to us cleaners ...if this is a reflection of how you do business, I don't want any part of it. And send me my $50 tuition back, too.

Update

Well, they called me back and apologised...I guess the girl who took our reservation 2 weeks ago doesnt work for them anymore, so we fell thru the cracks somehow...and didnt get the phone call telling us it was cancelled...I guess that can happen to the best of us.

Apology accepted.

Joe

Well, at least I can work on marketing for the rest of the afternoon!

Joe, you are better off in my opinion. I have used their method and it creates about as much mess as you are trying to clean.

The folks at Host / Racine Industry are good people. I'm sure this was simply an honest oversight on their part. Glad to hear you got it cleared up!
