Can you use punch in place of DS? if so, is the mix 8oz/gal?

Yes, Encap-Punch will serve you well. It can be used at 8 oz per gallon in place of DS.

Just bear in mind that it won't foam much, so you'll need to factor into usage that you won't be observing that nice visual cue of whitening on the surface like you're used to seeing with DS. You'll want to keep an eye on your solution delivery so that you don't apply too much solution to the carpet.

Aside from watching how much solution you're applying (on account of its lower foaming characteristic), Encap-Punch will clean very well for you with a Cimex, rotary, or cylindrical machine.
