| Are you ready for BIG BOY Wheels?
We have designed a wheel kit retrofit for the Cimex machines.
The kit contains a set of large 10" wheels. The wheels have sealed bearings. They roll like silk!
And it has a solid stainless steel axle (replacing the zinc plated stock axle). The axle has been machined to mate between the diameter of the Cimex axle housing and the inside diameter of the BIG BOY wheels.
Now you can replace your stock 7.5" Cimex wheels with a set of 10" BIG BOY wheels!
The price for the new wheel kit will be $210. The kit includes everything you'll need to switch out your wheels and axle. We expect to have the new wheel kits in stock and ready for shipping within the next couple of weeks. You can phone in a "pre-order" for your set now if you'd like to.
Here's what the wheel kit looks like...

Rick, can you explain the axle end/hubcap situation.
On the Big Boy, it appears that the wheels are recessed for the axle/hubcaps.
This appears to give the impression that the wheel are out wider than the hubcaps ?
If this is so, there may be a lot less damage to walls and door jambs, etc; from what I have heard from other operators.
Thanks & Ooroo,
Shorwun. I've seen the light, and changed my wicked ways.

It is held in with a c-clip retainer. The wheels stick out about 1/2 inch further than the end of the axle, so there's no chance that it could snag a wall or corner.

I think it is worth the price just to eliminat those pesky hubcaps that hang up on most everything. Way to go Rick. |

Hi Rick.
Are the tyres solid or pneumatic?

Seems a little expensive....Why not 12" wheels? The Cimex should have came with these wheels....You should give a better deal to the people that bought a Cimex from you Rick....

Fred, Rick buys the Cimex from whomever in good faith.
This machine is sent around the world to different resellers or distributors if you like.
If you go and buy a car and you want air conditioning, you pay more.
If you want state of the art stereo, you pay more.
If you want a Rolls Royce instead of a Lada, you pay a flamin' lot more.
Now to be really stirring the pot, if you want a (how can I say the word ?), (shudder), truckmount, that only comes with a 33 blower, and you want to upgrade to a 45 or 47, guess what, it'll cost ya big time.
What Rick is doing, is offering an extra that will improve the way the Cimex handles, especially for taking it up and down stairs.
Not many are prepared to do the leg work themselves and source these "extras", Rick has done it off his own bat and I applaud him for it.
But I certainly do not expect him to foot the bill for any extras that any purchaser of a Cimex may want added to their machine.
Anyhow, that's just the way this dumb Aussie sees it.

yea someone above with no name asked the big question:
are they air-filled tires?
they don't look it, but maybe they are.
another question:
does the black rubber lay any black-tracks from the rubber?

They are "semi-pneumatic". They are not air filled. But they do have a hollow center, and the rubber is soft. So there's a nice amount of cushioning. These are dark gray "mark proof" wheels.

Fred,
The wheels are perfect at 10 inches, 12 inches would be too big.
A discount? How 'bout $209? LOL
Hey, it's not our fault that Cimex has ALWAYS used the smaller wheels.
We're just trying to come up with a good alternative. We probably should be selling these for more than $210
These were fairly costly for us to develop. You're looking at a set of high quality (sealed bearing) wheels, a solid "stainless steel" axle, machined speccing for the axle, fabrication, packaging, etc. It all adds up. At $210 these wheel kits are a really good value. Get yourself a set and you'll be thanking us.
BTW, a set of standard Cimex wheels (without an axle) sells for $90 by themselves.
These new wheel kits are absolutely worth the investment - I assure you.

| Customer discount | July 16 2009, 12:44 AM |
Tell ya what, I'm gonna go ahead and bite the bullet. In line with Fred's request, here's what we'll do... For folks who purchased their Cimex machine from us here at Excellent Supply - we'll offer a $25 discount on the wheel kit (bringing the price down to $185). This will be a special deal for our customers. Sound good?
You guys are tough.

Those wheels look cool. If I"m not mistaken, they are the same ones that the Orbot comes with. If that's any indication, they roll like a dream!

The Orbot wheels are really cool. And yes, the Big Boy wheels are made by the same wheel manufacturer. These are the nicest wheels that we were able to find anywhere. Jeff at HOS tries to source out the best stuff in the industry, and so do we!
The only difference between the Big Boy wheels and the Orbot wheels is the size of the axle diameter and the type of bearings. The Big Boy wheels have a 5/8" axle hole; the Orbot wheels have a 1/2" axle hole. And the bearings are slightly different too.

Just talked to Drew. Ordered a set. Time spent out getting the parts, time & money spent at the machine shop. Now I just have to take off the old and put on the new. Money well spent.

These are really tempting! My Orbot has always teased my Cimex about it's puny wheels. NO LONGER!

Derek,
No one has tried these yet, because the axles are still in production. We expect to have the kits ready for shipment within 2 weeks.
Some folks have already started pre-ordering their wheel kits though.

| Feedback | July 29 2009, 12:33 PM |
I received my wheel kit yesterday. I am not very mechanical. Drew told me how to replace. I had the new wheels on within 15 minutes, simple. I use the cimex different then most here. I use this machine to work in my prespray, before hwe at my restaurants that I clean. I use the max pads for this purpose. From the moment I had the new wheels on, I felt like I had more control when moving machine around. I am able to move around hoses, solution lines, up steps, with one man. It has made it a better unit for me. Looking forward to the next improvement you guys make! Ron |
