Apple juice stain on airplane?

July 31 2009 at 6:26 PM
Micah Argenio

I am cleaning an airplane next Monday. The pilot told me that there is one stain that they have tried to remove a few times over the last 9 months, but it hasn't budged. They think it is apple juice, is apple juice that hard to get out? Yellowish brown wool carpet.
Thanks,
Micah

Airline Dyeing

It is more than likely that no-one would have much idea of what has been trialled on this stain.

If they have tried many different solutions, it is possible that someone has inadvertently set the stain.

Another possibility is that too much liquid has been applied and the area is browned out (cellulosic browning), in this case an application of 3% hydrogen peroxide may restore it.

Being wool, I would also consider neutralizing and dyeing the offending area.

Hope this helps.

Ooroo,

I've seen the light, and changed my wicked ways. wink.gif
