DS'ing a sofa?

October 5 2009 at 12:04 AM
Anonymous

There is a customer who wants me to do a white sofa that does not handle water well, browns easy (cotton)

I was thinking of lightly using DS and either hand buff using micro fiber of some sort of a buffer with a microfiber pad.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Encap-HydrOx for "anti-browning" upholstery cleaning

This would be a PERFECT candidate for Encap-HydrOx.

1. Mix up some Encap-HydrOx.
2. Whip the solution to a foam by spinning the Rota-Brush in a bucket.
3. Gently scrub the fabric with the foamed Encap-HydrOx. Gently work the Rota-Brush in an overlapping circular pattern. Keep the drill speed at about half throttle.
4. Immediately wipe off each section with a terrycloth towel after you've brushed it.
5. Don't get the fabric too wet. And keep fans on the piece or work on it out doors to get it to dry as quickly as possible.

Encap-HydrOx is designed to stop browning. As long as the fabric is safe for wet cleaning (test in an inconspicuous section before you begin) Encap-HydrOx will work GREAT.

Just a quick Q. regarding the shampoo process with the rota-brush. As for the application method would you continuously dip the brush into the foam and then back to brush it in (and repeat), or is there another way?

Yep. Dunk the brush in the foam, then scrub the fabric.
