Windows 7

Shorty

Windows 7 hits Australia shortly.

I have read Rick's post about it and also Mac, over on another forum.

I have been intrigued by Mac's for some time now, and the only thing that's stopped me from getting one is that I run Quickbooks which is not compatible with the Mac.

So my question to Rick is, what accounting program do you run with your Mac ??

I'm waiting for another couple of months before getting Delia a new laptop for Christmas with Windows 7 wink.gif if Mac isn't a suitable alternative.

Thanks,

Shorty.

I've seen the light, and changed my wicked ways. wink.gif

Shorty,

On the Mac you have 2 options.

(1) You can get a copy of QuickBooks for the Mac. It's not quite as robust as the Windows version, but for a typical carpet cleaning business, it should be strong enough. Here's a link QuickBooks for Mac... http://quickbooks.intuit.com/product/accounting-software/pro-mac-business-accounting-software.jsp?mboxSession=1255728667788-528539

(2) Or you can get Fusion or Parallels for the Mac. We run Fusion. With Fusion you load a copy of Windows and you can run any necessary Windows program, inside Windows, all within your Mac desktop. We actually run Windows in a network configuration on our Macs. So we have a network of Macs, and within that network we're running a Windows network. And guess what? The Windows network runs more smoothly than it ever did when we were running a straight Windows network. Here's a link to Fusion... http://www.vmware.com/products/fusion/

I guarantee if you try Macs you'll be hooked. They're not just a little better, they're miles ahead of the PC/Windows world. Perhaps Windows 7 will narrow that gap. For the sake of the legions of people who use Windows each day, I sure hope Microsoft is finally able to improve their game.

I have been using the Windows 7 beta for 5 months now and it is by far the best windows platform I have ever used. I have not come across anything I can't do on it! It blows vista and XP out of the water! I think that the majority of the functions mimic OS X.

I use a Mac daily at work, I will say I prefer the Mac. If it wasn't for the price I would have a Mac at home. Even so I would Run Windows 7 in Fusion. The only issue is that you will have to relearn how to use a computer!
