Orbot questionsDecember 13 2009 at 5:16 PM | Matt |
| Have been using our new Orbot for about a month now, a very fun machine!
We are using WAY too much solution. I've tried to adjust the valve, but there hasn't been any difference. Has anyone tried switching the jets? Any success?
The jets drip as well. We rinse it out often and that helps, but we have resorted to just turning the valve off when not in use.
The cord -- has anyone just replaced the locking cord to a regular plug? Already twice we have brought the wrong cord or just forgot it, and all the spares on board are regular ones.
Any other helpful hints? I definately love the machine, and use it for mostly residential now, but dry times have been affected due to the solution issues.
Thanks!
oh yeah, one more thing, what is good to clean off hydrox from the machines? we wipe it off and it just comes back..any special solution? |

The Orbot is indeed a fun machine to use.
I changed out the locking plug to standard plugs a long time ago. No problem in doing that.
As for solution usage, have you tried using a separate sprayer instead of the one onboard? For residential it might be a good idea to do that. Plus you'll ensure that the carpet is well lubricated evenly before you OP on it. I think the spray jets on the Orbot are pretty small to begin with so not sure if smaller jets would be recommended.
Not sure why you are having difficulty cleaning off Hydrox. It wipes off with a damp towel for me. Try to clean it off after each day.

I use one of those extension cord holders from HD and put the cord on the Orbot, hard to forget the cord when it is on the machine.
To much solution is something you just need to get used to putting down less, putting the value at half way may help.
Drippy jets clean out the springs, also rinse the machine out after your day is done the polymer is jelling in the springs so the do not close all the way.

Where are the springs located? |

For us, we have found the 04 jets work best as a nice balance between not atomizing the solution like the 02 jets tended to do and the 06 jets that I felt put down just a little too much solution.

I made a small adapter about 12" long to adapt the twist lock cord to reg. 3 prong incase of cord failure. I also coil my cord and use a cordlock from Home depot to attach it to the handle for transport. |

The springs are behind the jets the proper name for them is Check Valve. My apologizes for not stating the proper name. My wife gets on me about doing that stuff all the time

i have to agree about using another sprayer in a resi setting. the biggest bene of doing this is DWELL TIME. carpet will come cleaner if you do it this way. so it is a win for you and your client. |
