craigslist.com

Anybody had any luck with it for commercial work?

The wife played around a little with craigslist.com. I've sorta kept my distance figuring it's a bargin hunters playground. But, it's free and a lot of people use it. I started playing around with it and was surprised how easy it is to use.

I tried it a few months ago just for residential and got nothing but scams. Took the listing down quick. Never again.

That was Gena's experience. Got my first junk email already, lol, but I'm still curious to see if anything happens.

I have found that certain areas work much better, I post in 3 different cities, and alternate my ads between them. I have gotten a few jobs but it really increases the traffic to your website. If your not directing them to your website or using color and font variations your response will be less than desired.

We have gotten two jobs out of three postings in the past couple months, nothing big, but for free advertising you can't beat it!

If you are worried about spam mail, create a free email through gmail or hot mail, and use that to register your craig's list acount through.

We always put phone number and website in the ad as well.

I'm thinking it's free, and while there probably are a lot of price shoppers, there have to be a few pearls every now and again. Most of the advertisers put minimal effort into their ads and they're mostly selling price. It's not hard to stand out. If you stand out you're probably gonna scare away most of the price shoppers and with any luck attract what better clientele does pop in. Time will tell.

So far I've only gotten two one-in-a-lifetime opportunity emails. I can live with that. lol

Wayne, look up Mark Dullea. he uses craig's for advertising all the time and recommends it.

I tried Craigslist a few times. Got two jobs out of it. Not bad for free advertising I imagine, but I wouldn't build my business on it if ya know what I mean.
