New to Encap and this Forum

Steve

Hello, my name is Steve. I have been in the residential carpet cleaning business for about twelve years with a couple of truck mounts, now running a ProChem Everest HP. I do carpet, upholstery, Tile and Grout and some surface cleaning, primmarily concrete. The only commercial carpet work I have done has been with a truck mount and I have had reasonable success and a couple of stand out failures that I scrambled to fix. I have been interested in encap for a couple of years now and have read back several years in the forum.

I recently was called by one of my residential clients to bid 12K of commercial work. Not knowing any better I bid it at .25 a foot and it looks like it is going to go at that price. If it does it will launch my commercial division with a new Cimex and some product.

I am happy to have found this forum and look forward to moving ahead with a little guidance here. Seems there is a good deal of cumulative knowledge from this group.

Thanks
Steve

Great advice to start with is.............

.........When purchasing your Cimex from Excellent Supply be sure to order the "big wheels kit" with it. Its a must!! I guarantee it! Took me 30 minutes flat to install.

Big Wheels for Big Yella

Not sure if "Big Yella" will fit in your truck mount van. So when adding your low-moisture van be sure to order a (LB-10) Bi-fold side step ramp from Excellent Supply to transport Big Yella up and down. One hour install, myself.

Including these two things out the gate will set you mile -stones ahead, physically & productivity wise.

Price

Not a bad price for 12,000 sq ft. That will buy you a cimex.
Lot of guys on this board will help you out and Drew & the girls & Rick in the office will also help alot. Good luck.

Shorty

Bungee straps ( for Al )

July 7 2010, 11:23 PM

Hey Big Al, when rolling my Big Yella up my ramps, (which are a lot shorter than yours), and whenever moving the machine around, I have a secure strap that hooks around the lifting handle and I then hook into the solution tank.

This stops the head from continually dropping horizontal, it also makes it easier to move into tight areas, (not when working). wink.gif

By doing this, the weight is thrown back onto the Big Wheels and you are not fighting the machines weight.

I still work with the old fulcrum and lever exercise that I learnt fifty + years ago. happy.gif

Hope this is of some help.

Ooroo,

Shortestwun.

I've seen the light, and changed my wicked ways. wink.gif
