If you can run your email accounts through GMail their built-in spam protection actually works pretty good.
Beyond that I can't advise for PC spamware because I'm a Mac guy, so the software is different. On the Macs we don't run Virus, Malware, or Spam software. When I was using PC's I remember that Norton and McAfee were worse than the viruses they were supposed to protect me from (always bogging my system down terribly). On the Mac's I just use the Junk mailbox in Apple Mail to click away any unwanted spam. And only a reasonably small amount of spam slips in each day.
