Replacing Solution Feed Elbow

Randy

I'm trying to relace my broken solution feed elbow. Is there an easy way to get it out? I can't seem to get it out between the blue head and the yellow guard. Thanks for all you help.

Hello Randy,

It shouldn't be too hard. You need skinny fingers. Work your fingers, between the blue drive deck.

An easy solution for guys with fat fingers like mine, is to use a straw from a trigger sprayer to make a shim between the broken plastic that's still inside the hose and the broken plastic lives in the deck of the machine. This is a simple approach that can easily remedy the problem without having to shove your fingers between the deck and the yellow cover.

Let me know if you need any other assistance. Have a great weekend!

Rick, I have the new elbow. Even if i could get my fingers in there, I don't see the broken piece coming out easily. It was cracked above the yellow surface. It needs to be pulled away from the tube underneath and then the new one installed. Will the blue housing have to be removed from the yellow cover? I have looked at every angle and am just not sure how to get this fixed? I took off the white bottom plate, removed the center bolt but this is as far as I wanted to go without any advice. Suggestions?

Thanks

Replacing Solution Feed Elbow (2 options)

Option one: (for guys that don't have sausage fingers)

If you don't have fat fingers like I do - this approach is fairly simple.

There are two screws on top of the yellow cover that hold the elbow in place. Unscrew the two screws.

Then disconnect the tube thats underneath the yellow cover. You'll need to squeeze your fingers between yellow cover and the blue drive deck to unplug the broken elbow from the short piece of tubing that's still attached to the machine beneath the yellow cover. Discard the broken elbow.

Now to install the new elbow: This is the hard part. You'll need to connect the short tube that's under the yellow cover to the new elbow (maybe you can ask your wife or someone with thin fingers to help with this). You'll need to keep wiggling the new elbow back and forth in order to work the end of the elbow into the short piece of tubing that's still attached to the machine beneath the yellow cover. You can also spray a little WD40 onto the end of the new elbow in order to help make it easier to slide it into the tube.

After you've connected the new elbow to the tube under the yellow cover - replace the two screws that holds the elbow to the top of the yellow cover. Then install the solution line to the top of the new elbow, and youre good to go.

Option two: (for guys with sausage fingers)

Another SIMPLE alternative is the straw method. I love this approach because it is so simple...

Simply take a trigger sprayer from a spray bottle and cut about 3/4 of an inch from the straw. Insert half of the straw into the black plastic that's still remaining in the deck. Then join the hose by inserting the other half of the straw into the black plastic that's remaining in the end of the hose. This will shim it together. We have used this method on our own machines and I've recommended it to countless cleaners for their machines too. It's a simple approach that gets the job done well. And best of all, if you bump it again - there's nothing that will break.

Randy,

I had to deal with this on our older Mex...NOT an easy task. I spent HOURS trying to get that new elbow on, no luck. Eventually I was able to get the blue disk off & away from the yellow plate.

Good Luck!!
