Cimex Solution Flow

October 10 2011 at 8:54 AM
Steve Dills

I have struggled with solution flow control with my Cimex from day one. I did 16,000 office building over the weekend. When the tank is full I make shaving lather. My normal trick is to partially close the cut off valve when the tank is full and then open it up a little more as the tank empties. When I was done with the job I pulled the hose off the head and noticed that solution was flowing with the lever closed. If I pushed down a little on the lever the flow stopped. The bracket for the plunger is screwed on tight and in the lowest position. The tube is still very flexible BUT it looks like there is not enough spring tension to close the tube. I waste too much solution unless I can get it tweeked with the valve. Any ideas on what to do??? I love the way the Cimex cleans but the solution delivery system is Mickey Mouse. Any ideas on how to fix or at least improve on the lever issue I am having???? It has been this way since I got it. The job over the weekend was enough to push me over the edge.

Hi Steve,

There are a couple of possibilities, but the most likely possibility is that your tank is a little bit loose. If the tank is loose at all, the pinch valve will not seat properly and pinch off the tube. So try this fix.

Remove the bracket that holds the tank to the handle. Cut a strip of bicycle inner tube and place it under the bracket and put the bracket back on the handle. Press downward on the tank as you retighten the two bracket bolts. THis should do the trick in most cases.

If you do that but still have a problem then you may need to order a new solution valve. You also want to clean out your plumbing on a regular basis following these instructions http://excellent-supply.com/CIMEX_FLOW_MAINTENANCE_INSTRUCTIONS.pdf

same problem

I have had the same problem with my Cimex since I got it last year. I waste a ton of solution. If I walk away from the unit for a minute, enough solution pours out of the hose to soak the pads and the carpet I left it sitting on. It's annoying to see the bubbles moving through the hose without even touching the trigger.

Having the valve quarter turned helps, just as you described. But its aggravating to have to always struggle with guessing if you have enough or too much solution coming through to do the job.

I wish there was an improved design to start and stop the solution. Maybe an actual valve that opens and closes when you pull the trigger, instead of just pinching the hose. It seems like a bad design.
