Anybody run into this?

Kenny

I found this on another forum.

Does cleaning upholstery with Hydrox lessen the possibility of the costomer "seeing red"?

I'm thinking the lower the moisture level the better. I'm half tempted to find a cheap chair and red half of it with HWE and try VLMing it on the other half to see what happens.

Kenny, my guess is that Encap-HydrOx might work. The acidic nature of Encap-HydrOx and it's hydrogen peroxide base would seem to lend itself to being a good choice. But we haven't run across this to test it. You might try some inconspicuous spot testing to see what you might encounter. Extremely low moisture cleaning might be an option too.

But as Jim mentioned in that video, it might be the best practice to pass, if you suspect it has this type of ticking. Seems like good advice. To quote the old Kenny Rogers song...

Know when to walk away and know when to run

Thank you for posting this

I think that we may have had this situation occur a couple of years ago at a client's home. He is a lawyer! The chair in question was a wingback "grandmother" type piece. We have a two-page disclaimer, which addresses these unknowns. This chair raised enough suspicion that we actually had the customer sign it. STILL, disclaimer or no disclaimer, I wish we had declined the work. What Rick said... It just isn't worth it. You still look bad in the eyes of the customer, and it is disheartening to you the cleaner. Over the years, I have declined quite a few furniture items as being just too risky. Reputation is worth much more than the few dollars that you miss on that job. Thanks again. Good video. Proverbs 22:1
