| After reading several posts on other boards about how difficult it is to clean carpets in RV's talking about using UPH tools and stair tools. I figuered no way I could clean mine without getting a buddy over with a TM to clean mine, as I sold my TM a year ago. I decided after doing a customers carpet and having left over DS in the tank, to give it a try with the Cimex. I keep my trailer right in front of the RV so what to heck I was right there. I thought I'd just get the major traffic area in the living area. To my surprise I got everything except for the backside of the bedroom (not really dirty as no major traffic) and under the drivers seat. It came out better looking than when I HWE'd it. A little tricky to get it in the RV, my wife kind of guided it as I lifted between the dash and passengers seat. With the Mex it took about 5 mins to clean but I was quite surprised by the results. Sorry didn't even think about pics as I was to surprised that it worked so well.
Anyway guess there's more then one way to "get er done" as Larry would say.Now just use my portable spotting tool for under the drivers seat and carpet looks new!
Probably get a bunch of hate mail from certain people about what a hack I am but, I'm very happy with the results. Next time I'll take pics for sure! |

Copied from a post further down the page:::
"When someone say's "You can't" I ask "Why not?".
Believe in yourself and Big Yella and the profits are yours".
Onya Rick, keep thinking outside the square and never give up.
You never know what you can do until you try it.
It may not always work the way you think it will, so keep thinking about different ways of doing things until you either find a way or can prove to yourself that something can't be done with a particular machine.
Size and weight have only ever been my restrictions.

Rick I imagine the Mex would do a great job in a motor home. When I worked for another company the first 9 years I was in this business we used to clean motorhomes at Foretravel's manufacturing plant. I didn't know about the Mex then and so we used to HWE them all. We did a couple a week that would be in for service. Around the bed in the back and around the drivers seat were always tricky. Most of these were very expensive and so we had to be very careful.
We also used to clean a lot of ceilings in the motorhomes. I don't miss that because it was all overhead work with the upholstery tool and that will wear you out quickly. We had to do that on the ones that had cloth on the ceiling and the A/C would blow out dust across the ceiling.

Get a little Oreck Orbiter. It is easy to get in the RV, easy, to run around the RV, and will for the most part get under seats. You might need a little angle drill with the upholstery brush for the little areas and under the seats. |
