Question about BIG WHEELS - Jamie - 07-16-2012 When you put big wheels on the Cimex. Does the tilting head of the Mex adjust to the appropriate ride height and allow for the bigger wheels? Do you need to replace the Axle when swapping the wheels? I notice that Rick's Big Wheel Kit does not appear to have pneumatic tyres? Is this correct? Are there any benefits to Solid tyres over pneumatic? I was thinking pneumatic may be the way to go but am unsure about that. Would this cause too much bounce on stairs? Thanks gents Jamie RE: Question about BIG WHEELS - Cairnswun - 07-16-2012 (07-16-2012, 04:03 AM)Jamie Wrote: When you put big wheels on the Cimex. RE: Question about BIG WHEELS - encapman - 07-16-2012 The Big Wheel Kit comes with a new stainless steel axle. The stainless steel axle is a huge improvement over the zinc plated axle that comes stock from Cimex. It also has wheels with bearings, as opposed to the stock to non-bearing wheels. We have also started including a replacement T-Piece so that swapping out the old axle becomes easier (since the original axle has likely become corroded and may be stuck to the T-Piece). The new wheels are semi-pneumatic. They're not inflatable, however they are cushioning. And the increased height of the Big Boy wheels is actually an improvement. It helps the machine to be more balanced, in addition to rolling more smoothly. Overall it's a tremendous improvement over the stock set up. We're proud of what we've put together here - and we think that every Cimex should have this upgrade. RE: Question about BIG WHEELS - Jamie - 07-17-2012 Thanks for your replies Shorty & Rick, that's exactly the info I needed. Shorty I have read a lot of your postings about the Cimex, as well as the big wheels. I've seen the pics of you hauling it up many stairs. In my mind there is no other choice than to grab a set of the "the Big Boys" so the bullet has well & truly been bitten thanks to your info. When I get a Cimex it will be the first thing I do. I like to research my decisions before I jump in & Rick, yourself & the other gents who contribute to this forum have been enabling me to do this thanks to the generosity you show by sharing your experiences. Thanks again. Jamie |
