White salt film on carpet - slam - 12-17-2013

We have carpeting in our front entrance that we are going to clean this week. My question is how do we remove all the salt film from it . We have tried using hot water extraction with a carpet rinse and that still leave the carpet with some white film on it..

we have had good success using white vinegar and rinse rinse and rinse. Then we use air paths. Real bad 100% and not to bad 50% 50% hot water. P Cleaner

I assume that what you are trying to remove is calcium chloride. White vinegar will dissolve calcium. So, you could try a white vinegar solution, let it dwell, blot or padcap and then extract again. BTW ~ keep vinegar and CLR away from marble! One of my customers had tried to remove Mop and Glo from their marble floors with vinegar and totally trashed the finish. While you are at it keep customers away from Mop and Glo!

Get some salt away or similar product from a local janitorial supply house . Pre spray the carpet and let dwell for a long---- long time than rinse with the hottest water you can get. If a white film appears in a few days just do a surface pad clean with the salt away product and you should be good.
Avoid using any alkaline detergents

impossible using normal cleaning procedures
Entrance mats etc. need to be submerged in an acid bath for a few days and than cleaned or hung a flushed with a fire hose..
