Traffic lane question for my Hydrox heads out there - CleanItGreen - 03-29-2014

Just curious what my fellow hydrox users that do residential are using to clean high traffic lanes.

I know that Punch/DS2 is a good combination but that Hydrox is a standalone. Seems that Hydrox at normal mix barely touches high traffic areas, and I have to come behind with the encap spotter to get it to at least lighten up some and I figure its because the tea tree oil in the spotter does better for that type of soiling. what's everyone else doing?

You could mix the Encap-HydrOx at the "pre-spray" dilution on the label and give it some additional dwell time.

Rick, I did forget to mention that I have a small sprayer that I use with one part hydrox and 3 parts water (sometimes 2) and prespray spots and traffic lanes but I will try more dwell time and see if that helps.

If that approach doesn't work, you could use Encap-Punch in a limited application. Just keep in mind that the crystallization may very likely be compromised. However if you go lightly with the Punch and apply a little extra HydrOx while you're scrubbing you might be able to get away with it. But I would save that as a last resort.

I have had great success pre spraying hydrox on protein stains and using Punch as the main weapon in Residential.

Lee, for residential are you doing encap, padcap, or hwe?

seems the consensus is usually hydrox is #1 followed by DS2 as #2 but have not seen anyone else say they use Punch as the primary.

I guess I am a bit odd but I love Punch for residential. I use a two step padcap procedure with my 175 or Orbot. A tuway pad is used first followed by a microfiber pad. It is more labor intensive but the results are very good. I tend to charge more than some and have to deliver the best possible results. I use HWE when the pet stains get really bad. It works for me!

I use punch most of the time as my primary residential go to. I carry around a bottle of peroxide to spray pet stains. I do use hydrox some too, but as with any encap, you will get superior results with a little dwell time.

Hydrox does a great job for me.

I have the same problem as CleanItGreen on off white California Berber/Frieze carpets with heavy blackish traffic areas. It almost seems like it's oily soil & black from the rubber on the soles of their shoes or slippers. I've tried Hydrox & I've tried Punch, both lightened the areas but doesn't seem to cut it like I hoped it would. I padcap with the Orbot SprayBorg.

Has anybody else had this problem on California Berber/Frieze carpet?

Hi Duane,
I must confess I have no direct experience with California Berber/ Frieze. If it was me I would run Punch at 12 to 15oz per gallon with a Tuway Pad. I would also get a bucket heater and warm up the water. You could let it dwell for at least 10 to 15 minutes and try a microbeast pad or long strand microfiber pad to extract. If necessary do it a second time. I think that is as far as VLM can take you.

Thanks, that's pretty much what I did but that strong, I will try mixing it stronger next time.

Try pro's choice ape bonnet cleaning 2 part mix. Works well on traffic lanes when using bonnet method.
