There are probably easier ways, but I use two chisel screwdrivers & a hammer.
Put one on either side of the axle & GENTLY tap each one down.
Just a bit at a time on each side.
When the drivers are down far enough, the cap can be levered off.

The hubcap needs to be pried off. The prying will most likely wreck the hubcap.

Rick, would you believe that I'm still on my original hubcaps despite changing wheels three times, plus an axle.
Big Yella must be getting onto about eleven now I think.
Sure, they look a bit battered and not real flash, but no-one has yet commented on them.
Bet they're afraid I'll cap 'em if they do

Gonna sell my van, buy a bus & call it Shorty's Special Bus.
Then I'll attend all the trade shows giving free lifts to all the Special cleaners attending the events.
