There are different chemicals you can get from your janitorial store or home depot etc. There is just too many to post IMO. Years ago and some still do today is use Bleach. I don't.

Bleach WILL NOT KILL MOLD.

It merely strips the color, making it virtually impossible to see the mold spores.

When the bleach contacts the mold, the spores go into panic stage and reproduce dramatically, but you cannot see this, as the color has been bleached out.

As the above poster has stated, there are many items on the market, do a search on the restoration forums, etc; for mold and see what the experts use.

Concrobium is very effective.

Don't just do half the job, follow the instructions and do it properly.

Acetic Acid, (vinegar, NOT SYNTHETIC), also kills mold spores, but then it must be bleached away and rinsed afterwards.

Yes mold is not healthy. You can get very sick from it. Take a class in mold remediation you will understand it better.

Yes mold can be VERY dangerous to your health. Mold is not something to play with. The wisest course would be to first have a "mold inspection" to find out what kind of mold you're dealing with and to ascertain the seriousness of the problem. From there you can make decisions about which professional mold company to use for the remediation, or if it's a less serious problem you might choose to clean it yourself with mold cleaning products. But if you do clean it yourself, you should consider the possibility that the mold may be a larger problem than first meets the eye. I'm not a mold expert by any stretch, but I know that it's something that should be treated with respect.
