I just bought a Porter Cable polisher for encap
#1
Love this little gem, was going to get a Cyclo or a stepson but bought this when it was immediately available at Lowes. The first thing I did was buff my car out, and actually got a couple jobs with neighbors doing their cars! I really enjoy this unit but the buffing pad that came with it did not last, flew into pieces. These buffing pads do have a poor consumer rating but are acceptable to wrap a micropad bonnet around .

I ordered my brushes from autogeek, soft, regular and coarse, did not get the aqua brush. Should have them early next week. Will report back regarding encapping stairs, ect......

Is that a random orbit polisher?

I have been thinking about trying that machine. Harbor freight sells one similar for 60.00 with good reviews but not sure how durable it would be.

I do not even believe the porter cable will be that durable. It is built well but many auto detailers go through them regularly with even moderate use. I would not hesitate to buy the Harbor Freight unit to get started.

Thanks for the input. I have a feeling the P.C. unit is probably that same as the Harbor Freight tool, private labeled from China or somewhere. If it holds up to occasional upholstery and stairs, Id gamble on it. I like random orbit better than rotary for these tasks.

either way, I believe you would be pleased-

FYI- the Cyclo unit received some mixed reviews with the auto detail pros I spoke with, most recommend the single 6" pad over the twin pads for corners and overall performance, but this is personal preference at it's best, everyone has their opinion. The porter cable unit is a blast to use, and saved me from buying a 435 dollar stepson.
