Job estimating and invoicing
#1
Just curious if anyone else has tried Joist (www.joistapp.com, also free in the apple App Store)? It is a free app that allows you to create and send really professional looking estimates and invoices from your tablet or smartphone. We have been using been using it for about 1 year now....and while it isn't a complete end to end customer management solution - it's free, easy to set up, and really adds a professional touch to your service. We use it in combination with google calendar for scheduling.

I haven't tried Service Monster, which I know a lot of guys seem to like - but Joist has been a great zero cost alternative for us so far.

We use quickbooks. Download a particular quote as a pdf and email to myself. Once onsite open email attachment using "sign my pad" app. Add to quote any info not already on quote-square footage,,......on and on. Have client sign and email to them. I'm sure there is an easier way but its free.

I email the estimate once I'm at home.

It's a "process".

I use Xactimate because of its compatibility with insurance standards, but that is most likely overkill for most invoicing.
