Which Cimex Weight Kit Do You Like?
#1
i just noticed the 2 different Cimex weight kits. Anyone have either?

there is a "Horse Shoe" kit which is 35 LBS and a Bracket kit of 2 weights that are 20 LBS each.

which works better at evenly distributing the weight for carpet cleaning?

The horseshoe weight kit is ONLY for the CR48DF "Diamond Finisher" model, it won't work on a standard CR48 Cimex.

Any uses for the weight kit other than marble polishing?

It is useful for all typres of hard floor care such as tile & grout cleaning, scarifying, etc.

Since we are on the subject of weight, has anyone ever experimented with weights on the Cimex for carpet? Sometimes I wonder if a little extra poundage might make things work a little easier.

i have Gkleen, and it's true: weight really does matter.

i bought 35#'s of diving weights and put them on a belt for that. i don't use it much though, it's just a pain to lug it around lol.

but i am considering the two 20# brackets for carpet cleaning. i need to call and find out if this is a good idea or not. i also need to know how difficult it is to attach them and if it OK to leave them on permanently or if the attached weights make it awkward to transport in and out of the van via ramp. the weight kit would look a lot more professional than a weight belt.

after thinking it over, i am going to pass on the weight kit for carpet. i spoke with Rod and he pointed out that it is more in line for Tile & Grout cleaning.

last week i "Retired" my 8 year old Cimex and starting using one that i've had as a backup for the past couple of years. it has only seen about 35 hours of use, it is like new. the first 30 minutes it runs, if i lift up on the handles and pick the wheels off the ground (to give some extra agitation to a spot) it bogs down and the head stops.

idk if the motor is slightly weaker (the cord is nearly half the diameter of my older machine) or if it is a belt issue?? (if it is a belt issue, i do have an extra one if you think that will fix this Rick???)

after 30 minutes, it is warmed up enough and it runs stronger. but if i put 40 pounds of extra weight on the head within that first 30 min, it just wouldn't run on carpet right now.

not a huge deal, most carpet we clean isn't in such bad shape that any extra weight is needed. but we do have several accounts that the extra weight would give it more UMPHH to make the carpet pop just a bit more Smile

on a side note, i am loving this shiny newer Cimex. my 8 year old shoulda been retired 3 years ago i think lol. this one is much quieter and the solution flows more smoothly for me, which gives me better results faster.

It could be belt slippage since you're seeing that it works better after it warms up. That's a characteristic of a belt that may be starting to stretch a little. But it probably still has a good bit of life in it. Belts can go a loooong time after they begin to slip a little.
