Looking at buying a portable - any suggestions
#1
My main cleaning method is encapsulation, so I've decided to sell the truckmount and replace with a fairly decent portable. Another advantage of this is to free up room in the van for other items.

Am looking at also buying a spotting machine (lightweight, carry-in type) such as a Kerrick or Noble for stain removal and small upholstery jobs.

I need to use the portable for the trashed rentals and other jobs as required including upholstery and for less than 10 usually small water damage jobs per year.

I don't do tile and grout cleaning (very little demand previously) so need to know what size portable would suit for my purpose eg. psi, waterlift etc.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Minimum 400psi (less than 400 psi just won't make the grade IMO on the kind of trashed jobs you will use it for)
Go for a good heated portable with a decent heating system rather than the auto fill/dump option. I have the heat and I love it ( I can't place my hand under the jets on mine) and I've never needed the auto fill/dump option.
Look into the types of Vac set up ie: 2 x 2 stage or 2 x 3 stage and whether they are in series or parallel?
IMO You will need a 1.5 inch wand as well. I use the 1.5 inch Evolution 2 jet wand.
I have an older model US products porty that was rebadged in Oz

That's my suggestion on specs.

BTW the Kerrick Sabrina is a fantastic spotting machine that I own and I use mine all the time on stains that need extraction when encapping and also for upholstery.

Cheers mate

If all you need is a lightweight unit for upholstery and spotting - the Gecko would be an excellent choice... http://www.excellent-supply.com/Gecko-Sp...p_249.html

For a serious performer I'd highly recommend the TruckPort... http://www.excellent-supply.com/TruckPor...p_345.html

I used the Gecko yesterday on a small pee pee job, guy calls me up late Sunday saying his baby peed on the carpet, could I come out and clean it. Sure, went with the Gecko and Hydrox and 10 mins and 50.00 later another happy customer.

Rick I think the TruckPort looks like a great machine with all the specs I mentioned above. Are they available in Oz yet? as Cammo54 is also in Australia

Ahh, I didn't realize he was in Oz. No, the TruckPort isn't available in Australia, since it's a 110 volt machine and those guys are running some other world kind of freakish current down there Wink

The TruckPort looks like a great option.

You get all the bells and whistles and it's on two cords.

For a spotter I personally like the Mytee Lite II. Lots of heat and great vacuum.
