So, I have to ask - is an Orbot really much better than a rotary? I've used a rotary for years and have (what I consider to be) great results, but I keep seeing people mention Orbots and op. So how much of a difference is there, really?

David there's a pretty big efficiency bump moving to an OP. A rotary makes big 17" (possibly larger) looping rotations at 175 rpm's. Whereas an OP machine makes 100 times more small rotations that are about the size of dime as it oscillates at 1725 rpm's. Those small oscillations do a much better job of connecting with the carpet pile than the large looping motion of a rotary.

Thanks, Rick. I may have to look into this further.
