You could use the Gecko portable if you're looking for a good upholstery machine. http://www.excellent-supply.com/Gecko-Sp...p_249.html. The Gecko is an awesome little extractor for upholstery, spotting, and stairs.

Or you you might possibly use the Drill Driver with 8" bonnets http://www.excellent-supply.com/8-inch-D..._p_10.html, or use the RotaBrush http://www.excellent-supply.com/Rota-Dri..._p_15.html. Either of these tools can provide a simple way to provide low moisture / encap cleaning for upholstery.

One final solution for upholstery using low moisture is the Bonnet Mit http://www.excellent-supply.com/8-inch-B...p_479.html. It's a great and simple approach for light to moderately soiled upholstery.

Rick, How many chairs would you say the Geckos 3 gal tank could clean before refilling?

It's been a while since I cleaned a bunch of chairs with a 3 gallon portable. I have done it though. As I recall I think that I was able to clean roughly 25 chairs per fill up.

What I've done for cleaning large numbers of chairs is set up a little assembly line. One person's pre-spraying chairs and moving them in line for cleaning. The first person also brings pails of water to refill the machine. A second person blasts over the chairs with the RotaBrush. The third person quickly runs over the chair with the extractor. The extraction can be done really fast, since the fabric was pre-sprayed, and pre-scrubbed. Then every half hour or so, trade tasks - in order to keep everyone's muscles fresh. This 3 person setup will enable you to effectively clean large groups of chairs lightning fast!

I just did a white sofa today using a table for the cushion cleaning------better for the old back

Here are some tips

I also like the 13inch blue micro fiber pads for the stepson machine

After  4 years of low moisture cleaning I have noticed on my white sofas of all fiber types I can extract more soil with micro fiber rags and pads if I use 5-10 and change them out a lot versus spotting machines I have used and my $3000 ultimate dry/wet clean machine and my $24000 CDS truckmount with drimaster uppolstery tool plus the rags get in the corners and edges better than any vac tool so you need rags to extract piping and corners even if you use a vac extractor.

Experiment and find what is comfortable for you

Thanks for the info on cleaning upholstery good videos.

I have a question  when cleaning carpets I spray the carpet not the pad. I then use a dry bonnet  to clean the carpet in the videos  for vlm upholstery  its the other way  round spray cloth dry upholstery or have I got it wrong?
