Man vs Stain
#1
The rest of the carpet came out nice and clean but I had the most stubborn stain. I tried everything I had including Encap Spot, a 50/50 mix of Encap Hydrox, rust remover, CTI ProSolve and power gels. Nothing worked, The Stain won.
Any thoughts on what else it could be?

Looks like rust, did you by any chance look at the ceiling? leak at some point possibly? Could have had metal on the carpet that got wet. Could also be a wood stain... Those are my shots in the dark. Nice work on the carpet clean! My gut tells me there was a leak or flood at some point - To be honest If you tried all those things it does not matter, Its most likely permanent. No big deal, you cant win them all but you gave it a shot

Ahhh the mystery stain. The only way to tell for sure is to taste it. Wink
Just kidding of course.

Pro-Solve and Power Gel won't touch a colored reddish/brown stain like that. Those products are ideal for oils, petroleum based stuff.

It's hard to tell what it could have been. It sounds like you tried the right combination of products to tackle it. You might also try some CTI Red Relief or Stain Magic.

Sometimes a stain is what it is - "a stain". There's no telling what the source was, how long it's been there, and what possible attempts may have previously been done to treat it. Sadly sometimes we can't always be the hero. The rest of the carpet looks pretty good though.

Is it possibly residue from a food dye in a drink such as one of those, I think you call them "slush puppies"??

A heat transfer system MAY work, but after various solutions have been tried, these sometimes make a stain permanent.

At the bathroom door, it also looks like cellulosic browning, where the water has also affected the cupboard.

Here's a timber stain which others tried and set.

Cool

Chemspec Dye gone might work.

Tough stain but my question is how did the customer feel? Was he/she okay with you leaving the stain there after you were done? I'm sure they noticed how much effort you put into cleaning the stain so you're probably fine. I would still talk to the customers about how much you tried but yet the stain would not budge.

They were fine with the results. The carpet was the best looking part of the apartment.
