Oh boy- what have I done!!! Trinity content.

After receiving my Cimex from Excellent supply, I am hooked on VLM cleaning. I tried to buy a Orbot from them as well, I regret that excellent could not sell to me in California, so I pouted and as a rebound purchased a Trinity CM which will arrive next week.

I wish to make it known that Excellent is a class act and regret that I could not buy a unit direct from them, and not because this is their board, it is because I am loyal to any company when I receive the level of service and courtesy they provide.

I scoured through every board, and blog to glean pertinent info as I wanted to make a educated decision.

Random thoughts- People can be obsessed regarding their Machines and belong to "equipment cults" where brothers help brothers of the same equipment persuasion will come to the aid in the event of a bulletin board attack.

The Orbot gets some flack now and then but performance is greatly improved for residential with the aid of weight kit added. Some will make homemade weights cheaper and easy to apply with the magic of velcro.

I for one, like the way the Orbot looks, and when you reverse the handle when pad cleaning, it looks cool, custys would be impressed.

Orbot is lighter than Trinity Cm approx. 85 lbs to trinity 122 lb ??

Orbot would be I would estimate, to be easier to operate in a residential setting.

I have never used an OP

Cimex is so much easier than hooking up my big noisy TM and dragging hoses so I am pretty sold on OP as a valid cleaning method. (have I mentioned that I love my Cimex today?)

Is everybody making encap juice now!? wow the choices are daunting, but I am happy with
DS2, Punch and especially Hydrox.

Trinity may have the biggest oscillating agitation in the industry but has been reported to notoriously wear out pads quicker, and I have read that Orbot can be better at cleaning stains and spots in the course of a cleaning job due to smaller oscillating performance.
I do not like to buy into hype as all units can make money, I do believe I would be happy with the Orbot with weights as I bought a unit primarily for residential as I purchased the Cimex for comm work.
Some say the Trinity has been perfected, others would disagree and cite irreconcilable differences with the unit. I purchased unit on the basis of the pros and not the cons.

Frankly, I am not enamored with the look of the Trinity, May look better in person as I have never seen one up close. I will post my thoughts upon arrival.

It is all about making work easier and to be profitable.

Man did you hit that one on the head! haha
Although I have gotten plenty of good guidance and info on the boards, ultimately the best machine, method, chem,etc,...is the one YOU are happy with.

Thanks Mike for the prop- I frequent many boards now, but only post at Rick's - as these are some well behaved and jovial carpet soldiers, where exchanges are pleasant and the forum here is productive and helpful. I want to start posting video- been recording some great video on the Iphone.

I started to purchase the Orbot but had a hurricane hit our area and all of my money went into a new roof. We just use a 175/300 RPM buffer and have great success with it. It will last a lot longer and will not even come close to the cost of an Orbot or Trinity. For agitation , I use a restorative carpet brush ( Nap lifter) or if there is a area that needs attention, I'll use an Oreck Orbitor. I thought about purchasing the Trinity or Cimex for commercial however, I do not have enough accounts to justify the price at this time.

Hey Mike, you will not go wrong with the 175/300 rpm rotary. I have the hawk 1.5 hp and it's awesome. Oh It has the telescopic handle wich is pretty cool also. Eaiser to lift and transport.

Yes Mike if you are makin' the bux, doesnt matter what you use.

With my Cimex purchase, It has opened a door for me in commercial work, I have done plenty with HWE, but have new commercial accounts to service, and getting referrals. I have another to bid on next week.
It is my main goal to go after commercial service contracts again and when the time comes to sell the business, there will be a more financially attractive package. For years I have been primarily residential but having contracts increases the business worth and credibility.

Yes, unfortunately our hands are tied when it comes to selling the Orbots into the Western States. HOS has it locked up with the large JanSan firm "Waxie". So throughout Waxie country - we can't sell Orbots. We'd have loved to have helped you if we could have. I hope you will be satisfied with the Trinity machine.

Your 175/300 rotary can get the job done until you're ready to pull the trigger on a Cimex. It will be slower scrubbing with a rotary and it won't scrub quite as deeply as a Cimex or an Orbot. But you can compensate for that by spending a little extra time going over the carpet with an extra dry pass or two. I think it's wise to not bite off more than you can chew. Pace yourself, and wait till you can reasonably acquire the equipment you need.

Hey Rick,
not to worry, I plan on giving you much of my hard earned money for other things- haha.

I have heared mixed reports when using Super Zorbs on the Trinity- do you think that the extra oscillation would be too much for them or do they seem pretty sturdy??

I have only seen the Trinity run for a few minutes at our shop when John brought one to SummerFest last summer. I can't comment on pad wear, since I don't have hands on experience with that particular machine. I've heard a lot of talk about it's aggressiveness though. I'm not convinced there's a need for excessive agressive agitation when it comes to carpet cleaning. I think the Orbot has plenty of agitation. Agitation is very important. However we need to be balanced about it, otherwise damage to the fiber can occur. John feels there's an advantage to the agitation of his machine. Yet I think it would be wise to use gentle pads on the machine and exercise a measure of caution so that you don't distort the pile. To that end, microfiber pads tend to be less aggressive than other pad materials, however they may not hold up under the Trinity. So you may want experiment a little with different pads.

We are now handling the MicroBeast bonnets. They're excellent bonnets for rotaries as well as for OP machines that have good velcro. These bonnets hold up well and scrub deeper than other microfiber bonnets. We should have them in stock within the next 2 weeks.

Hi,

From what I have been told on numerous occasions, the Trinity only works with microfiber pads and I think one or two other Tuway type pads. From my understanding SuperZorbs will not last long at all.

John G. is, from what I have read, working on a new cotton/terry pad.

Personally, I use an Orbot. I love it. Use it for commercial and residential. I was lucky enough to purchase used. Waxie is a big company and they prefer to do business with large scale accounts like hospitals, casinos, etc. Not fun for guys like us.

The one thing I am not a huge fan of with the Orbot is the SprayBorg. It gets the job done, don't get me wrong. But, I do think the shower feed of the Cimex is probably a better tool then the Orbot spray system for production cleaning. If I use the Multi-Sprayer with the Orbot I get outstanding results on commercial but lose the production time.
