  medical issue
Posted by: lynne - 02-14-2015, 07:29 PM - Forum: GENERAL DISCUSSION - Replies (9)

Hello Everyone!

I received news that i have Leiomyosarcoma (cancer of the connective tissue) on my thigh about 10 days ago.  Since then, I have had a whirlwind of activity, going to U of Michigan's sarcoma center and speaking with doctors and having tests run.   It has been classified as Stage lll because of its large size, but no metastasis.

I get my IV port placed on the 18th and start chemo on the 19th.  chemo every 3 weeks for 3 months, then surgery, then radiation.

I am 100% confident in being cured.  I have a great medical team, great family and friends, faith, and a kick-butt attitude.  And I am otherwise very healthy.

I plan on updating everyone on the site periodically.

Rick.... thanks for all you do.  You all have made a junior encapper like me feel welcome and treasured.  That means a
lot.

I will be back to carpet cleaning before you know it!  Until then, take care of yourselves. xoxox Lynne

  Winterize orbot?
Posted by: msc1917 - 02-13-2015, 07:56 PM - Forum: GENERAL DISCUSSION - Replies (12)

Need to travel with the orbot in my pickup on monday, very cold! Is there a way I can safely winterize the pump for the trip? If so how? Cannot place in vehicle and would prefer to not have to remove the sprayborg.

  orbot rebuild!!
Posted by: Joe DeSouza - 02-12-2015, 03:32 PM - Forum: GENERAL DISCUSSION - Replies (2)

Hey guys,

I'm in the mood to rebuild the old orbot...it's one of the older ones...it's all rusty and the paint is peeling off. Looks nasty bringing in to a customers home so it's time to get cleaned up. Just started taking it apart this afternoon to get it powder coated.  So...

While I have it apart, is there any other upgrades I should do?  I heard there are better hinges for the handle and maybe an upgraded oscillating assembly with a bigger orbit?

And...for those who had theirs powder coated, how much $$ was it, and is there anything I should know about having it done (one concern that I have is having the threads in the parts clogged up with paint, should they be masked)

Any pointers with a rebuild is appreciated!

Just got a new pad driver from our buddy Rod at excellent supply, now I want to just keep going !!

Thanks ,

Joe

  Payment?
Posted by: leofry@1966 - 02-12-2015, 09:50 AM - Forum: GENERAL DISCUSSION - Replies (5)

so do you guys charge a late fee?

do you demand payment at the time of the cleaning ?
do you give 30 days ?
do you give longer than 30 days ?
and if they are late do you charge a late fee.

do you think you get what you expect-

am seriously thinking of going to payment at the time of cleaning... we offer a link on our emailed invoice to pay electronically, or you can leave a check or we also accept credit cards...
i know this is a gamble one i will lose on some jobs but i hate chasing my money. I wonder if all of us got on board with this if it would become normal

  Commercial Property Management
Posted by: jsjanitorial - 02-11-2015, 02:56 AM - Forum: GENERAL DISCUSSION - Replies (2)

So we are scoping out potential marketing targets. In looking around at area business complexes I've come across several commercial property management companies that lease out the sites in the complex/building. Some of them state "full service lease"

In your experience, do the commercial property managers usually arrange the floor care or is it up to the individual tenant? Wondering if we should reach out to some of the property managers or if it's better to start with individual businesses. We want to come across as educated! Wink

  Thank you Rick Gelinas

Thank you Rick Gelinas, for the nice little story about the Cimex Big Wheels over on Mikey's Board.

Yeah, I also posted this on the infamous Facelessbook. [Image: icon_eek.gif]

[Image: icon_wtf.gif] I'm shameless.

& embarrassed. Blush

The story behind larger Cimex wheels...

I guess the folks at Cimex never realized that the machine would benefit from larger wheels.

In fact the Cimex rolled along for 75+ years on those small wheels - from the original Cimex built in 1933, till the day a wise Aussie (a.k.a. Shorty) came up with the idea of adding larger wheels to his Cimex.

Then after Shorty talked up how much nicer the large wheels were under his Cimex, we took that good idea and developed our Big Boy Wheel Kit upgrade.

After a few years of upgrading Cimex machines with larger wheels, Cimex has now recognized the value of larger wheels and is also offering a larger wheel option.

Looks like we all have Shorty to thank for this innovation!

A simple idea that led to a big improvement.

Probably was inspired by the stance of the kangaroo.

  Cimex clean up questions
Posted by: jsjanitorial - 02-09-2015, 09:23 PM - Forum: GENERAL DISCUSSION - Replies (1)

Got the Cimex today! Only thing carpet in the house is a closed loop area rug, so gave it a whirl on that. Nice clean smell, took all the spots out of the rug.

A couple questions:

1) do you all use a bucket to put the water in the tank? Then add the solution? Or do you mix it all in the bucket then pour in?

2) After use, do you just rinse the pads or wash with soapy water?

3) We drained the leftover solution into a pitcher. Should it be discarded or can it be reused? After draining we poured clean water in the tank and drained that out. There is still some residual water in the tubing. Is that normal or should we be able to drain to the last drop??

Thanks! Now just to go out and get some biz! Big Grin

  Wanted steam cleaning
Posted by: leofry@1966 - 02-09-2015, 09:52 AM - Forum: GENERAL DISCUSSION - Replies (8)

[attachment=161]not sure why i am telling this story, i pretty much do what i want lol..
BUT am a little slow today

i have been cleaning a automotive factory for about 13 months every month about $300 its about imo about a $375 job but hey its every month so i was cool with that.
at first they agreed to vacuum and move plastic matts and chiars but as time went on a few more mats where not taking up and we had to move them and a few more chairs ... and the floor was very poorly vacuumed ... ok dislike that but ok if they pay on time and pat us on the back then ok its $300 a month.
about the last 4 months they start to complain about the work, keep in mind that we are using the cimex and realist ... and thats what we have always used.
also keep in mind its me and one helper and well i think we are very good, not perfect.

she sent a note with the last check saying lets steam clean it.
it would be a long hose pull to do that i would have to go buy about 2 more sections of hose and keep in mind that this carpet is 20 years old, so i got brave or stupid and said give someone else a shot, let them try it and if your not happy i'll sit down talk about your expectations and i'll work up a new bid...

not sure am asking for advice, i made a decision, might be right , might be wrong, wont be the first wrong decision i made and wont be the last
