  Chasing my money
Posted by: jtmellon - 07-27-2013, 03:45 PM - Forum: GENERAL DISCUSSION - Replies (13)

I am getting so dang tired of always having to chase my money with some of my customers. My Karate customer is still playing his tricks with me (the check will be there, can you come back Monday, can you do the work and I will mail it to you).

I guess some people don't know a deal when the get one.

My fuse is wearing very short with him and I am trying everything to keep a smile on my face.

Does this forum have a classified section? Or can we just post in the general section?

  Dry Carpet Tiles
Posted by: Jim M - 07-26-2013, 12:54 AM - Forum: GENERAL DISCUSSION - Replies (2)

Got a call today about cleaning a control room in an oil sands plant. The gentleman asked if we did dry cleaning, he was concerned that moisture from wet cleaning could get below the carpet tiles as there is a 2' void under the raised floor in the control room where all the cabling runs.
I told him that we encap control rooms on a yearly basis for another oil producer without issue.

He said he would require as much information on our process as possible to take to the decision makers. Just wondering how you guys would handle this. Is there information online that would explain the encapsulation / Cimex process better or would you just compose a professional reply via email?

  Hot water/cold water?

I believe I read on this forum that you can use hot or cold water using encap chemicals and get the same results. True or False? I know I will sometimes be working where there is no hot water available.

Why does the spot come back?
Posted by: leofry@1966 - 07-25-2013, 03:36 PM - Forum: GENERAL DISCUSSION - Replies (13)

OK I know with encaping the spot is less much less likely to come back correct?
Am guessing the reason is because we are not getting the carpet very wet and are cleaning the top or the tip of the carpet correct ? but what does the spot come back anyway? once again i have always assumed it was because there is a lot of whatever the spot it in the carpet and maybe in the pad correct ? so if this is correct then someone spilling a glass of coke or juce should not come back correct ? its only when whatever it is is a fair amount and we as carpet cleaners are not rising it out very well... so why do you think the spot comes back ?

Best tool to encap tight places?
Posted by: ebarnett - 07-25-2013, 12:30 PM - Forum: GENERAL DISCUSSION - Replies (7)

I just picked up a restaurant to clean carpets. The problem is the booths have mounted tables with a center bar that is mounted to the floor. My cimex will not fit through, so i need a smaller machine toencap in the booths. Any suggestions?

  Wet Carpet Tiles
Posted by: Cyclone - 07-25-2013, 01:35 AM - Forum: GENERAL DISCUSSION - Replies (2)

I have a janitorial contract in a new office complex that opened 6 weeks ago. The hallways have light tan, nylon carpet tiles with a black, rubber type backing.

The first week the building was open, a small water line feeding the ice maker in the breakroom leaked and went under a wall and soaked the hallway tiles. When the tiles dried, they were darker than the adjacent tiles and had a sticky feel on the surface like the adhesive had wicked up. They were going to replace the tiles but the carpet dealer can't guarantee tiles from the same batch so the color may not be an exact match. They now want to know if I can clean them and get an acceptable appearance.

Any ideas on the best way to deal with these darkened, sticky tiles? I have both an orbot and cimex machine and stock DS2, punch and hydrox. Thanks!

  House boat cleaning
Posted by: leofry@1966 - 07-24-2013, 09:33 AM - Forum: GENERAL DISCUSSION - Replies (5)

now i am really not thinking about this but more curious, I have had several people tell me/ask me to start cleaning boats on the lake... like have a carpet cleaning pontoon and you drive around to each house boat to clean them... wonder the following

1. could you encap?
2. if you steam clean what about the waste water ?
3. how much could you make
4. how much would it cost to ste up
