Who would you rather deal with? |

I had one of my appointments cancel this week. First time customer referred to me by a recently retired local cleaner. The woman called and said her husband wants to try cleaning it (3 rooms) himself. She's upset cause she knows better. I told her to call back if it doesn't work out and I'll be glad to do it.
My question is who do you prefer to deal with on residential? The man of the house or woman?
I find that the man is usually difficult. I don't think the typical male values carpet cleaning service as a high priority. I prefer the homes where the females calls the shots as far a cleaning services.
I actually did 3 rooms of carpet once many years ago while the husband and wife fought about whether it needed to be cleaned or not. Wife kept telling me to go ahead , it's ok ....sorry, etc.
really uncomfortable!! And to top it off her check bounced! Took me 2 weeks going through the local police dept to get paid.

in between my visits...
They claim theyre not looking to replace me, but the management is fairly new. Told my contact I'd get back to him...
Thoughts? Should i ignore the situation or recommend a bain?
Btw, since new mngmt, they no longer stick to the quarterly schedule. So yea my gut tells me i'd be shooting myself in the foot.

A dirt napper on an OP machine? I hear about rotary machine users using one, but how about OP?
seems like it would really dig out some nasties in matted traffic areas on the filthy ones.

Would like to hear what you guys think on this one:
There is an opportunity for me to pick up a used TM. Overall, the TM is in good shape, the van is as well, but there are a couple of catches. First, the van is about eighteen years old. Second, it has no a/c (I am in Vegas for those of you that don't know). If the van has trouble down the road, I am most likely stuck and will be forced to get a new van. Also, if I were to buy this, I would almost certainly need to install an a/c of some sort. Not to mention the mpg.
Part of me wants the 'convenience' of a TM - get jobs done quick, versatility, etc. However, the other part of me wants to avoid all of the maintenance, costs (gas namely as I average 20 mile distances to my jobs - which is to say 40 miles round trip) and other responsibilities associated with it. Also, I am a terrible mechanic. Blowers, belts, heat exchange systems, pumps and small motors are things that I have zero familiarity with.
I also have the opportunity to purchase a used Steamin' Demon. I really like this machine. I don't think it's as fast a TM, but along with a CRB (or other agitation tool) it seems like it could take on most any type of carpet. Commercial, resi, etc.?
To me it seems like the Demon would be a simple way to go. I assume they are reliable?
Also, I do not know how customers would react to seeing a machine like that? Though I have plenty of experience in dealing with how they react to seeing an Orbot, so I guess that's mostly a non-issue.
Anyway, please let me know what you think!
Thanks!

vacant residential berber |

I am in a college town, so I do alot of work for one of the large property management groups here. In their high end rental units, they often have sculpted berber (olefin). These units are usually not trashed out, and I have been using the MF beasts with a superzorb follow-up on my Orbot.
I am always thinking about productivity, and got to wonder: Is there any reason not to treat these units like CGD, and do a single wet pass dry pass with DS2 and a fiber pad? Seems like I would save some labor with this method. Any thoughts?

tuway or microbeast or super zorb? |

Hi guys, my name is Eric and I'm new to the board. Got my new orbot a few days ago and took it to a trashed out rental. Lady was afraid she would have to replace carpets and not get her deposit (she was moving out) anyway i spotted with releaseit encap spot, sprayed encap juice with the sprayborg while scrubbing it with a fiber pad letting it dwell, then came back over it with a microbeast bonnet and presto! Perfect! I was called a miracle worker, and stanley steamer who was there a month ago was called some names I cannot repeat here.
My question here is when would I use the tuway pads? The microbeasts worked so well, i dont know when or where to use them. Maybe on a carpet that is not so bad, and once over with the orbot and a tuway would be sufficient? Then when would you use a super zorb?
Anyway maybe some one could chime in on how and where they use them. Thanks!

My Dad, Ray Moody, is 77 today and My parents are celebrating their 54th Anniversary today also.....
He doesn't frequent the boards much, so if you want to wish him a Happy Birthday/Anniversary, message me privately and I will give you his phone number/email.
Scott Moody
PS. He is cleaning carpet today without a helper. Only 3 small calls, hopefully, I can do as well if I make it to 77.
[will be posting to all the VLM focused boards]
