Do you always let the client win ? in other words is the client always right

I had a lady call last week and wanted a the carpet in her camper cleaned, I told her i really didn't do campers and it was hard to move around in them, but yes i would do it. so i show up and really the carpet looked fine to begin with, but had a few stains, i told her i could not promise i could get the stains out. I had told her on the phone and then again it was $75 also told her it would not take long like about 15 mins,I mean there is only like 20 sq feet of carpet, she complained about the price and the previous carpet cleaner she had once before ALL WARNING SIGNS. but i did the job then i walked through with her and she was fine with it. I collected the money and left.. this was Monday, well Friday night her husband calls and complains and says i will lose a lot more than that $75 after he tells people how bad i am... i told him i went over everything with his wife and walked through when done, I also told him not to threaten me with bad mounting me. SO i am not gong back and i am not listing to him or is wife... many may say i should i understand... but to me the CLIENT is not always right...

  chemical shelf life
Posted by: KennyWright - 06-21-2013, 10:05 AM - Forum: GENERAL DISCUSSION - Replies (5)

Last September I had an arm injury that kept me away from carpet cleaning for a good while. I'm back at it now but I still have chemicals (DS2, Punch, Hydrox, Soileze, Foam Guard) that are 9-15 months old. They are kept in my basement garage so they did not freeze and did not get too hot. Should they still be OK to use and should I mix them a little stronger than usual?

  When Did You Discover VLM?

How did you find out about low moisture cleaning?

What tools did you use originally? Have you changed things up over the years?

I ask this question because it seems like lots of CC'ers are still very unfamiliar - if not outright unknowing - of low moisture processes.

I remember working at a big chain retail store back in the mid to late 90's and the janitor would bonnet clean the carpet. Of course I had no idea what he was doing then.

So it's safe to assume that it's been a janitors tool for quite sometime?

I remember reading about someone saying they ground down their nubs on the oreck orbiter driver. Just wondering how and where did you buy Velcro

  Carpet square issues
Posted by: Bccc - 06-19-2013, 07:55 PM - Forum: GENERAL DISCUSSION - Replies (6)

Good evening, i have been cleaning a commercial building for 6 years and just last year they ripped out the old carpet and put in carpet squares. I went to clean it the other day with my cimex and DS and i am having a hard time removing some spots that were easy to remove with the old carpet. I have gone back and lightly sprayed them and used a towel to get them out but i am still having a hard time. Anyone else have any ideas for these squares??

Looking for feedback on "encap basic"
Posted by: Rob D - 06-19-2013, 06:28 PM - Forum: GENERAL DISCUSSION - Replies (2)

I have used basic on light soiled residential but was looking for feedback from cleaners that use this on a regular basis. I have been mainly using punch or bio encap in residential. I like the light fragrance and Of course the price of basic. Thanks for feedback.

  Cigarette smoke smell in carpet?

Bad smoke smell in an apartment. What would you use? Odorcide seems like the best option to me...any other thoughts?

  Too much urine
Posted by: Rob D - 06-17-2013, 04:37 PM - Forum: GENERAL DISCUSSION - Replies (7)

I must be getting old and miserable. Today I walked away from a job I have cleaned for years. Usually it has 5-7 urine spots I go in clean it up and move on. Today it had dog poop and more urine than anyone should ever allow in their barn oh I mean home. I just don't want to subject my cords, brushes, bonnets , hoses and wands to that anymore. I don't know how people live that way but I see more and more of it. I suggest they pull the carpet up and put down some straw. I think it hurts their feelings
