The Low Boy with the Swingarm & Wheel Kit conversion is now online.
We've modified the Low Boy OP machine to operate with "wheels down".
Here's a link to the Low Boy with the new Swingarm & Wheel Kit Conversion:
Low Boy SWK 19" OP Machine
And here's a copy of the video showing the Low Boy with the SWK installed:
The Low Boy SWK package is priced at $1795. It includes the following: - 19" Low Boy SWK OP Machine
- Swingarm Conversion
- 10" Wheel Kit
- Velcro pad driver (ideal for bonnet and pad cleaning)
- 1 Free gallon of Encap-Punch
- 1 Free 19" MicroBeast bonnet
- FREE FREIGHT to any commercial address in the contiguous United States
I think it represents an awesome value compared to other OP machines on the market. It's a quality machine that performs on par with other "wheels down" OP machines. It's a very smooth and solid scrubbing unit. It's quality construction all the way with a polished cast aluminum deck and switch box and a 3/4 hp Leeson motor.

We put together a conversion kit for the Low Boy that adds a Swingarm and Big Boy Wheel Kit to the Low Boy. Got the first one back from the machine shop manufacturer on Friday, and picked up the rest of the order today. The swingarm assembly is made out of aluminum and has spring tensioners that press the wheels downward. With this conversion the machine really glides along nicely in a forward and backward motion. It's a nice little improvement.
We put together a video today. Have a look...
P.S. We'll be putting a Low Boy package deal together that includes the swingarm and wheel kit upgrade. We're still working out what the final pricing for the package will be (crunching the numbers). Should be completed in the next day or so.

Cat urine removal suggestions? |

I have a residential customer with "stringy" carpet that's about half an inch long. their cat decided the floor was a good place to take a leak when mama closed the litter box in the bathroom by mistake. customer went at the areas using baking soda, which somehow caused the stain to spread. one particular area behind a door, the cat hit multiple times.
my first mode of attack was my portable hwe spotter, with hydrox mixed at about 2 oz per gallon. sucked up a bunch, but there was still more. second go at it was with encap spotter. brushed in well, let it dwell, and started blotting with a white towel. after darn near turning 5 towels yellow (and with more suction to boot) there was still some coming up. Finally, sprayed hydrox from a sprayer mixed at 12 oz/gallon. scrubbed in, let dwell. STILL didn't get it all out! I told her that i was going to come back with something stronger to finish up, and left.
so, what are you guys using to get urine out of carpet? i saw some others mention using hydrox heavily mixed (50/50) and i prob need to pull out my full sized extractor. suggestions?

Many that post on this board did not know Peter but those of us in Ontario knew him well.
Just back from attending his funeral. Peter was a true pioneer in this industry and my association with Peter goes back to the early 70"s He was one of the founding members of the Ontario Professional Carpet Cleaners Association and a true friend of all those who came in contact with him.
Peter was one of the first to recognize the need for education and became the go to guy for knowledge Besides his passion for his family Peter had a great passion for upholstery cleaning He was constantly finding a better way to clean the uncleanables back in the 70's, and he would share his findings with anyone that was interested.
Peter was the OPCCA's instructor for our certification schools and later was an IICRC instructor until ill health some 14 years ago changed his life and forced him to retire a way to early
Rest in peace my friend.

And I forgot to take my good camera! iphone pics didn't do it justice. A light colored olefin berber with the "dreaded" dark areas in front of furniture. I have struggled in the past with some of these and it's frustrating to leave a job less than thrilled with the results. Hyrox really surprised me on this one. The customer even commented how great it came out. Dark areas GONE!
This was the first time I tried Hydrox . Great stuff!

Should I buy used Challenger? |

Meet a guy that has gone out of business. He saw my van, and asked me if I wanted to buy a used Challenger. 15'' 3/4 hp 4 years old that's in good shape. I'm starting to do more and more LM. I have a Orbot that I'm using now. Is a Challenger good to use for smaller houses with small rooms. I believe it weighs about the same as the Orbot. Didn't ask how much he wanted for the Challenger. I think the wheels off the ground makes it harder to handle in tight areas. Would it do a better job than a 13'' rotary?

For a chain restaurant with about 1100 sq ft of carpet. They have it done monthly and its never really heavily greasy. They own 2 in my area so take that into consideration. Not a big account but just curious what others would bid.

Am I missing something? |

I have been trying to clean residential carpet using DS, but the result was not that great. I hear many great stories here, So I am wondering if I am missing something. I have used Punch, Hydrox (this is very good for many stains), DS.
My 175 is 12" Oreck (which I prefer. I do have 19", but that's too heavy to carry around the house).
Is it because my 12" Oreck is too small or light weighed?
I usually add 8 oz of DS and prespray, wait and start. The result is no good, then spray Punch and try... still does not look that clean...
So I had to pull out hoses and turn my HWE with Slam from Jon-Don, and it looks really great.
I have orderd case of DS, Punch, Hydrox, and want to use it for residential cleaning.
Could someone tell me if I am missing something here with suggestion?
Or tell me your secret?
Thanks.
(I have not tried commercial carpet yet. I do lots of residential move in/out).
Thanks in advance!
