Cimex 880 speed |

Hi all!!!
My name is Jason and I am a carpet cleaner in the UK
I have been looking into encapping and thought I would get some great advice on here from you guys in the know!!
I have been offered a Cimex machine at a good price but its the 880 speed one. Looking at old posts on here I see some do use it on carpets - can it be done safely and would I only be able to use it on tough commercial carpet or is it OK as an all rounder?
Also, what other cleaning can I do with that type of Cimex? Will it do patio`s, block driveways, stone and tile?
Thanks in advance
Jason

Looking at buying a portable - any suggestions |

My main cleaning method is encapsulation, so I've decided to sell the truckmount and replace with a fairly decent portable. Another advantage of this is to free up room in the van for other items.
Am looking at also buying a spotting machine (lightweight, carry-in type) such as a Kerrick or Noble for stain removal and small upholstery jobs.
I need to use the portable for the trashed rentals and other jobs as required including upholstery and for less than 10 usually small water damage jobs per year.
I don't do tile and grout cleaning (very little demand previously) so need to know what size portable would suit for my purpose eg. psi, waterlift etc.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Ok, here goes.
I and Shorty have been here a long time, why is it that Shorty and I are only 3 stars. I mean for the info that Shorty post, he should at least be a Field Marshall by now and me well I might not post much but I am like the uncle that comes over for Christmas and never leaves.
I should at least have 4 stars and be a General or something.

Using Bonnets with Cimex- What is your evaluation? |

Thoughts on a Sunday- Can't wait for work on monday........
I have read a few threads regarding the use of bonnets with Cimex- looking for a bit more info-
What are the pros and cons of the thin Tuway pads - is anyone using for residential cleaning??
What about the thicker cotton pad? do they tend to absorb more or are they just more trouble?
Thoughts on using beige fibre pads followed by the cloth with the Cimex alone for a deeper and more effective cleaning. Thoughts?
I know many encappers employ the Orbot or other OP flavor, just looking to glean Cimex info.
I have found bits and pieces of info on pads, just would like more of a hands-on consensus, I really have an interest using Cimex for possibly more light residential work when HWE requires too long of hose runs.

Thank you to Excellent Supply in the delivery of my new Cimex unit. I received it Thursday
and used it on 4 jobs friday.
I got a call from a tenant at an apartment carpet clean and unit was too far for a truckmount to reach, so I did use the Cimex- and when I finished, the carpet was looking great and the custy was very happy.
I usually use a Sapphire Scientific 570 with a Hoss scrubber, but on a residential job that had a bad traffic lane I did use the Cimex as a prescrub, very nice outcome and very low moisture.
The only casualty of the day was the keeper ring for the upgrade Cimex wheel kit I purchased popped off and off came the wheel. Luckily I found the lil' devil and so the crisis was averted.
Thanks again Excellent, what a class act- I am having fun and love what I do after over 30 years of Business ownership in the carpet cleaning industry.

DS2 Spill on VCT |

This must be my day for problems. One of my guys spilled some DS2 on newly refinished VCT flooring. It dried, and had to basically be scraped off. Plain water and neutral cleaner wouldn't remove it. Is there a magic elixir (or simple household cleaner) that will remove this dried product without dulling the finish on VCT should this happen again?

Release-it and Odorcide Fresh, a great combo! |

We cleaned a large gymnastic center, over the holiday break. We added Odorcide (fresh scent) to the Release-it and it did a great job. The scent is very pleasant. I also sprayed the Odorcide, using a pump up sprayer, in the day care room. That room was an area that the manager was concerned with. I sprayed that room, ahead of time and it took care of that dirty diaper smell.

Cimex and Edging |

I have been using the Cimex for about a month now and have a question?
When I use the Cimex I am not able to clean the 1"-1.5" or so of carpet that is next to the baseboards due to the overhang of the unit over the 3 brushes.
It is not a big deal on carpets that are not that dirty, however on carpets that are that dirty it looks unfinished with the uncleaned area. How are others able to clean these areas and do corners as well?
Thanks,
Chris
