Today i inspected a new customers carpet. It is a wool carpet and looks like a berber.
It has different spots...kids urine...some drink spills and light traffic lanes.
it is not a wall to wall carpet. its a rug of 7 x 5 meter and 5 pices of it.
Can i clean this rugs with the 175 and DS2, pre spray with Punch and treat the drink spills and urine spot isolated with Hydrox. I ask because my HydrOx went out of stock....
Are the products woolsafe?
The last years the housekeeper cleaned the rugs with a kind of small extractor and lots of chemistry and vinegar...it took him 3 days to dry the carpet!
Here is a picture of the rug:

Got a call today from a customer I did 3 months ago with my CRB machine. She says that the carpet still has rows in it, I think there refered to as corn rows in the cpt world. Just wondering if anyone has had this problem and if so what would be the best remedy. I'm going back tomorrow with a vacuum and a cpt rake?

| Follow up on CleanFax magazines article on Encapsuation |

Hi Everyone ,
I just received this months Cleanfax magazine and in this issue was the follow up to the first article that they printed on encapsuation and how various
chemicals responded.
Several of them dried so hard that they will most likely never be removed from the carpet fibers however , several of them did dry to a crystal and
shattered when they hit the tray against the table.
In this test they used strands of carpet fibers and pretty much ran the same test. They banged the carpet fibers against a table and some broke off very easy while others
may never come off. They then took a air pressure hose at 120 psi and sprayed them on the dry carpet fibers. Pretty much the same results. Some blew all over the place
that they said that they had to wear mask while others never broke off even with an air hose being used on them.
What sold me on DS2 was I normally clean out my measuring cup after each cleaning job however, the day that I mixed it with DS2 I did not.
The next day I looked into the cup and what was left over had crystallized and were in several pieces.
The only thing that Cleanfax had said about the ones that did dry and shatter was that they were very small and very sharp which I believe would have been the case.
They then went on to say was could the shattered pieces become airborne or could they be so deep into the carpet that a vacuum cleaners beater brush would not be able to
get them out of the carpet.
I personally do not believe that would be the case and am still 100% sold on the Encapsulation cleaning method and the chemicals that Excellent Supply offers.

| Vct pad cleaning tips |

Just a quick post to see if anyone has any tips for cleaning a vct pad after use on a wool carpet? The pad is loaded with bits of lint and fluff that's knitted in almost. Tried with a hand brush etc but still weaved in there. Wondering if keeping the vct pads aside for synthetic carpets would be the best idea and using something like a microbeast for wool?
Ordering an orbot next week to use instead of rotary so losing on brush bristle options for wool.

First up I think all who post here are a credit to your industry. Lots of good advise.
I currently run an antenna business and have had resonable success, buy tired of getting in roofs, under houses etc and have been researching carpet cleaning. I have a good reporte with my customers but if you do a good job they won't need me for another ten years or so. I won't bore you with the details.. not a lot of repeat business mostly referal
I like the idea of having repeat business and flexability with time. I was thinking of residential to start with but after reading a post that Shorty (If you could start again?) gave some good advise on, got me re-thinking. I do like the look of Rick's CMS and more profitability.
Some thoughts on below would be well appreciated...
Starting out, I could probably invest $10000 to start but would prefer less $5-6000.
Would a CRB be the first investment and start from there or go the whole hog and do Cimex as well? Maybe CRB and OP Nautalis 1515C $1500 plus pads approx
Duplex or CRB?
CRB have seen one online here in oz Pro45 by Masterclean $3500
Ive seen a Floormac - 33cm 13" maybe for stairs, tight areas (Swiss by Cleanfix)has brush I think for tiles $1000 plus bonnets
Cheap car buffer modified for chairs $ $100???
Releasit products of course.
Rick's CMS a given
Website $250 (same as my Antenna one www.antennafix.com.au)
Flyers, cards etc
Training in Melbourne ???
These are some thoughts for now, I hope it makes a bit of sense.
Shorty I see your from Cairns go the Cowboys...
I grew up in Rockhampton now living in Tasmania (part of the attraction of VLM)
Thank you all in advance
Tony

Last Friday I took my elves to clean a residential carpet. We did the usual prep, decluttering, vacuuming, moved furniture and decided to use DS2, then rinse and extract the soil with a self contained machine.
Well, the brush bearings failed and our machine only sucked the rinse water halfheartedly. The carpet was damp, but we didn't notice. BIG mistake.
By Sunday, the carpet in the living room smelled musty. There was one place an old oily dog must have favored, because it smelled like laundry. So Monday I went back and laid down a good misting of oder killer. It helped, but the customer still smelled that musty smell.
Today I went back and did the living room all over. This time I used Hydrocide, as some stains had come back up, mixing it a bit strong. I douched the dog-stinky area and ran my CRB over the room three times, the second and third time for recovery of a second (rinse-free mechanical) application of Hydrocide. In short, I toasted it.
Then I turned on three fans and plunked my butt down until it was all dry enough to post vacuum, after which I left. The carpet looks and smells clean and fresh. I sure hope it stays that way this time!!
Moral: Do what you must to make it right. Have confidence in your Releasit products and be aggressive. Happy hunting, gang!
