op with only 1 pass & punch question
Posted by: mark63 - 09-29-2015, 03:41 PM - Forum: GENERAL DISCUSSION - Replies (10)

Just did my first op cleaning today and Wow, I think i'm hooked! i have read many different ways to clean and some talk about using different passes with different pads, I really just want to do one pass with one pad and go over it again if I need to. Would the microfiber-beast be the best choice for this. and can I use it for most carpets, also for which carpets would you not want to use the beast on? I also read that Punch is better for OP cleaning than DS2, and my last question is would op cleaning make Hydrox less effective for those situations where you would want it? Thanks!

  Spotting Kit
Posted by: joeyjcc - 09-29-2015, 07:44 AM - Forum: GENERAL DISCUSSION - No Replies

Any recommendations for a spotting kit?
Or, are there just a few products that remove most spots, gum, etc?

Also, is there an encap spotter in a "giveaway" size? It it too costly?
It would seem that a customer using the free bottle of regular (non encap) spotter will not rinse afterward.

Thanks

  Hos Orbot pad size
Posted by: mark63 - 09-27-2015, 05:40 PM - Forum: GENERAL DISCUSSION - Replies (2)

I just purchased a Hos Orbot Sprayborg From Ed E, Originally came from Excellent-Supply! I'm getting ready to order some pads and was wondering if I should get 17in or 19in, the machine is 17in but I think u can go up. And also I like to keep it simple so I am only going to use the fiberplus, microfiber-glide and the microfiber-beast, Can I get by with just these two? Thanks.

  Safe detergents
Posted by: Bobolinski - 09-26-2015, 11:53 PM - Forum: GENERAL DISCUSSION - Replies (5)

I'm thinking of taking both myself and my 1984 vintage VonSchrader VS1 out of retirement. Since we have as a pet, a Green Cheeks Conure (sort of a midget parrot that doesn't talk, at least not in english) and since this bird and possibly all tropical birds have extremely sensitive and delicate breathing apparatus, I need to know what detergent would be safe for me to use at home without endangering my little buddy. I'd be grateful for any advise.  Thanks

  Superzorb pad and advice
Posted by: marsonpee - 09-26-2015, 03:50 AM - Forum: GENERAL DISCUSSION - Replies (11)

A newbie to the board and to LM/encap side of carpet cleaning but not carpet cleaning itself. I've been running with HWE with a porty for about 6 years since my startup and have good results. I started encapping commercial jobs earlier this year after advice from another forum and have seen great results so far. In the past few months I've been toying with the idea of primarily doing LM cleaning and supplementing with HWE on jobs that require it.

It's where residential carpets are concerned that I'm trying to perfect the skill. Here in the UK we have about a 50/50 mix of customers with wool and synthetic fibre carpets. Most of the time I get great results but wanted some advice in a few bits to see if I can fine tune my process and results.
Currently I am using a 175 and oreck orbiter and have so far:

Microfibres scrub bonnets
Microfibre bonnets
White buffing pads
Multi- brush attachment and pad

Here in the UK we don't have many options as you in the mighty USA do so sometimes find it hard to cross reference what's recommended on these boards. However I have seen mentioned a lot that cotton bonnets are best for absorption. The only pads I can get if that sort are the HOS Superzorb pads. Would these work well/be reused many times or would I be best stocking up on microfibres pads?

My process at the moment is:

Pre vac
Prespray
Agitate with 175 and multi-brush
Pass with dampened scrub bonnet (if needed)
Pass with microfibre bonnet

From what I can gather I've got the steps right but practice and the right pads may help.
Sorry for the long post and Thanks in advice for any advice, I've learnt so much already looking through past threads and searches. Feel very optimistic about offering Lm after reading in here and without the anti-lm that's often spouted in many forums.

  op cleaning and post vacuum?
Posted by: mark63 - 09-23-2015, 09:57 AM - Forum: GENERAL DISCUSSION - Replies (9)

I was thinking of trying op cleaning, But i'v read on some threads that you have to vacuum after cleaning also because the op vibration brings up what a lot of your pre vacuum did not. Now I use cimex on cgd and crb on resi, i never have to vacuum after and would not want to ad another step especially on larger jobs. also even though encap dries fast I think it is still damp and don't think it's good for a vacuum tho suck in moisture?

  DS 2
Posted by: MikeHabib - 09-23-2015, 09:47 AM - Forum: GENERAL DISCUSSION - Replies (1)

Well I ordered a gallon of Punch to use as a pre -spray on a very bad traffic area that I had to redo and I got the same results. Now I know for sure that it is pile distortion. Joe sent me a sample of
DS2 to try so I decided to use it in my Vonschrader just to see how it would work.  I have to say that I was very impressed. It did not foam up as well as Vonschrader's products however , it looked
  cleaner for some reason.

Yesterday I did another job and the first thing I noticed in my measuring cup was some dry broken up DS2 from the night before. It did exactly what Rick tells us Encapsulation formula's are suppose
to do. Once they dry they crystallize and break down for future vacuuming. I had been using a competitors product and have never seen that before.

What makes me bring this up was the article in CleanFax magazine about Encapulation cleaning. It was a real eye opener and Excellent Supply passed with flying colors.

The job I did last night came out great and the new smell that DS2 has it very nice.  Just thought that I would share.

  Here I go again
Posted by: Lounge Lizards - 09-23-2015, 07:40 AM - Forum: GENERAL DISCUSSION - Replies (1)

I'm never happy with stock items.

I always have to tinker.

Starting next week, it time for the 'BORG; to get slightly uplifted.

As many are aware, I have larger, pneumatic tires on my Cimex.

On the Sprayborg, they are the typical semi hard tire like what is on most dehumidifiers, and what is now the standard issue Big Boy wheel/tire.

I'm going to TRY & source similar pneumatic tires for the 'BORG;

For a person short on stature like myself, I find the standard wheels/tires a bit too hard for taking up stairs and definitely too hard bring the 'Borg; down.

I want to get that bouncy feeling again like I have on Big Yella.

QUESTION:: Has anyone done this as yet with their Hoss machine??

Cool
