  Pile Brush vs CRB
Posted by: lee@deepclean.us.com - 12-20-2014, 01:57 PM - Forum: GENERAL DISCUSSION - Replies (4)

Greetings Everybody!

I currently use a Pile Brush on every job.  It is like having half a CRB connected to a really good vacuum.
I find it really helps generate good results with encap cleaning for me.

I am curious about using a CRB.  For those of you using a CRB may I ask what you like about it? What size do you have? Commercial and residential? What don't you like about it?  Do you have a built in sprayer?

Lee

  Brand advice, please

Locally, my chemical pimp handles several lines.  His best encap is a Bridgepoint product called "Encapuclean Green DS" and it seems to work very well.  Price out the door by the gallon is about $40 plus tax.

The Releasit compares well in price, if I buy enough to get free shipping.  But price is secondary to what really matters; giving the best work possible.  Do any of you old hands have experience with both products?  Do they have sweet spots for certain conditions?

I'd like to use whatever serves my peeps best, but am a bit conflicted about what that would be, especially with limited equipment.  Good vacuums, an Orek 15" lowboy, pads and a small stack of bonnets.

Sure do hope these are the right questions.  Encapping is a new technique for me.

  All the best.

Section 179 - Year end tax ADVANTAGE - Ends December 31st
Posted by: encapman - 12-18-2014, 10:22 AM - Forum: GENERAL DISCUSSION - Replies (1)

The government has just issued an extension on Section 179. What does that mean to those of us in small businesses? We can purchase up to $500,000 of equipment prior to December 31st and write it all off on this year's taxes, rather than depreciating it like you'd normally have to do. That could possibly have a big effect on this year's taxes! (Of course it would be wise to check with your tax professional to see how this might directly benefit your company's 2014 accounting)

Here is a news article that outlines a handful of year end tax strategies, including the recent news about Section 179.

So how will you spend your 500 grand?  Who wants to be the first one to order 200 Cimex machines?  You have 13 more days.  Blush

  Okay okay, you win!

Hello everyone.  After reading hundreds of your posts, I finally tried encapping a job.  Up to this point, for carpet I've been using HWE (done in my own fanatical way).  Reasoning that using a quality encap product could at worst be extracted, I took specific advice from black2white and Shorty's posts and set to work.

WOW!

Fantastic results, quick dry and a customer who thinks miracles can still happen.  Equipment was the backpack vacuum, sprayer, trusty 175 with pad and a bonnet to finish up.    I know there are better tools, but this is what I have on hand.

Many thanks for the generous flow of info and knowlege.  By your standards it went slow, but for this old guy, it went smooth and quick (by comparison to my usual protocol).

Now off to ES for a quick drool and bad case of the wanna-wannas...

Looking into taking one of the CCT courses coming up in the new year.
Does anyone have any instructor recommendations, or who spends more time discussing Encapping, VLM?
The instructors within driving distance to me are: STEVE ANDREWS, DANE GREGORY, JOEY PICKETT & DOUGLAS HEIFERMAN.

  Nursing homes / retirement homes
Posted by: jtmellon - 12-17-2014, 09:22 AM - Forum: GENERAL DISCUSSION - Replies (6)

Who here does nursing homes/retirement homes and what is the best way to market to these types of business?

Trying to grow my business and pick up more carpet work then just the office cleaning.

So, how and who do I market this service to.

Thanks

Exclamation New Directory for Carpet Cleaners
Posted by: Aussie Geoff - 12-17-2014, 06:32 AM - Forum: GENERAL DISCUSSION - Replies (3)

Firstly, a big thank you to Rick for allowing me to post this here.

There is now a new low cost online directory for our industry.

It's called Your Local Carpet Cleaner.

We have a special deal in place for December only where you can get a 12-month membership for only $49.99. That’s half price!!

While there are many directories online, there are no quality ones specialised for carpet cleaning, so an industry-specific directory like Your Local Carpet Cleaner will rate well on search engines like Google & Yahoo etc.

My aim is to make the site well-known as the go-to website for finding a carpet cleaner.

You can check it out here: http://yourlocalcarpetcleaner.com/home

I have a customer who has 12,876 sqft.  They are regulars who pay on time and we do all of there group homes. Their tired of trying to clean the larger buildings in house.  Can you help us with quarterly, every 3 months , or even monthly.

12,876 total
1,500of that needs to be extracted

We've be cleaning for  them about 8 years. They know us well.
Condition not really bad, some furniture may need to be moved.
Easy to work with.
I really want to give them a good maintenance plan.
