Don't Cherry Pick, just GO FOR IT!!

While you sit back and "Cherry Pick" your customers, your competitors will clean up the rest. I believe adapting to your prospective customers needs is the key to expanding your business.

If you like living hand-to-mouth, be selective about your business and customers. But if you have bigger goals for your business and your life, look at each potential customer as an exciting new opportunity. Listen, learn and adapt. That’s the path to success. (IMO)

  CARPET TILES
Posted by: Lounge Lizards - 06-10-2014, 05:24 PM - Forum: GENERAL DISCUSSION - Replies (1)

NICK, this may interest you, & others.

Two weeks ago, I Cimexed the carpet tiles in the Bistro of a local club.

Went in last night to do same tiles in poker machine room, checked out the Bistro, and the carpets are filthy already. Huh

These are made by ShawRecycles.com

First time these have been cleaned, only laid a few months ago.

Did not do the slots room.

Going to talk with the manager today re alternative cleaning methods.

Been doing this particular job for thirty years and it's my first ever disappointment there. Angry

Huh

I have a customer with filtration soil lines around the carpet, and was wondering the best way to handle it with vlm?

Help which one Cimex, Trio, Host, Rotowash?
Posted by: Nickms - 06-09-2014, 05:26 AM - Forum: GENERAL DISCUSSION - Replies (22)

Hi, I run a single operator cleaning business. For a while now I have been cleaning metre sq carpet tiles for a company who specialise in event hire. Until recently I have either been vacuuming the tiles or when they become too soiled I pressure wash them. Often grass seed and straw gets walked in and the only way to get this out is to use the pressure washer. They have recently purchased another 2k tiles and are expanding rapidly. Pressure cleaning them takes far to long to both clean and dry and is too labour intensive and straight vacuuming is not good enough. I started looking at Host machines, but they seem slow and the chemical is exorbitant, I have come across the cimex, but two things concern me the drying time and will I be able to vac out any grass/straw? The whittaker trio seems to be a good option. I should add that I will need to import into Australia and use a stepdown transformer, also if I am going to purchase a machine I may as well get one that will do residential as I have a large client base to build upon.

I should add that the tiles will be laid out 400 sq metres at time and not stuck down. I have run a host machine over one and it did not pick up the edges.

Your advice is greatly appreciated

  Hydrox + Odorcide
Posted by: CleanItGreen - 06-07-2014, 03:52 PM - Forum: GENERAL DISCUSSION - Replies (4)

Got a customer that had another carpet cleaning company in to do their carpet. somehow after a few days the carpet started to smell. i'm going in with hydrox and a deodorizer and I know that some of you use odorcide mixed in with the hydrox. that would be lovely, because that would be a one step thing--spray and crb--instead of cleaning, then possibly extracting, then spraying deodorizer.

so, how much odorcide can i mix in with the hydrox and not effect the hydrox effectiveness?

  OH SNAP. !!!!!
Posted by: Lounge Lizards - 06-07-2014, 03:37 PM - Forum: GENERAL DISCUSSION - Replies (4)

Had to clean & apply protector to a lounge suite on Saturday, then clean a small rug.

After that I had a twelve hour commercial job to do, a regular customer.

Just finished the rug & stood the handle upright............... & SNAP !!!!!!!!!!!

The height adjustment rod at the rear of the solution tank/handle, snapped at the base where it screws into the ferrous piece that goes around the axle.

You think it wasn't half awkward getting Big Yella back into the van again.Angry

So I cancelled my next job, no problem 'cept; this is a long weekend, Monday public holiday.

Short week next week.

Poor old Big Yella's gonna have a week or more off the road by the time parts arrive from down south, providing they have them in stock. Sad

Rant over, I may even buy another one ( Mex; ), to keep as a spare. ;-)

Lounge Lizard out........

Rick:
Why is there only one screw? Should there be two? And what is their purpose?
Outside of that,I'm liking this OP way more than my old Challenger even though the overall footprint is larger. Less real estate in the van now more than ever. Quick delivery. Thank you to you and your staff,as always.

Spotting with encap and no rinse
Posted by: mark63 - 06-05-2014, 04:27 PM - Forum: GENERAL DISCUSSION - No Replies

I had 2 potential cadillac customers today. both had spotting issues on light natural fiber berber carpet. first was blood. releasit is my first go to but with blood I used stain zone diluted by about 20%. after applying quite alot I went over and encapped with hydrox. I did not rinse since I did not bring my spotter or porty (even thou it says to rinse, BP rep told me that you do not need to with this product) next job had a watermark that I started going throu the spotters in order and then followed with encap spotter (nothing seemed to work) When I encapped It again with hydrox, it started foaming up, I folded a terry towel placed my polisher on top and went over it. I guess my question is even though if used in small amounts these spotters do not need to be rinsed, If you start stacking them up and using alot how bad is it to leave all that behind in the carpet? and if you rinse, does it interfere with the encap process? Hope this makes since.

  Flinging solution when cleaning stairs.
Posted by: mark63 - 06-04-2014, 03:45 PM - Forum: GENERAL DISCUSSION - Replies (4)

I have been cleaning stair cases with a makita polisher/sander and a fiber plus pad. works great, only problem is I get encap solution on the side walls. Is this unavoidable/am I using to much prespray or Is there a way to not have to wipe the walls down after and hope the customer is not watching?

Received My CRB From Excellent Supply
Posted by: Blue Ridge Floor Care - 06-04-2014, 01:21 PM - Forum: GENERAL DISCUSSION - Replies (1)

I received my 15" Brush Encap machine yesterday. I ran it all over the house last night. This thing really digs! It does a fantastic job of pile lifting and renewing the carpets feel and appearance. It mostly pulled up a bunch of carpet fuzz. My house isn't a real good test however, because the domestic goddess that I'm married to rarely goes more than a day without vacuuming due to the lousy cat that let's us live in his house.

The unit is very easy to operate and control. I'm sooo glad that I heeded Rick's advice and ordered the 15" model. This is the perfect size for residential. I would say it's the ideal size for most commercial as well, unless you had very large open areas to run it on. I've read on other forums of guys complaining that some CRB's are kind of flimsy and don't appear to be well built. That is NOT the case with the Brush Encap machine. This unit is well made, and I have no qualms with the money I spent on it. If I had to point out a perceived weakness in the build, it wouldn't be with the machine itself, it would be with the transport dolley. They use a thin metal axle, and a $2 set of plastic wheels to support a $2,000 machine. I'm still not anticipating any problems with it.

This is my 3rd major equipment purchase from Excellent Supply, and it was yet another flawless transaction. I think I have dealt with just about everyone in Rick's organization, and I will say that they are all wonderful to deal with and are absolutely the best in the industry. Professionalism and customer service run through their veins,. I'm a cheerleader for Excellent Supply because they've earned it. I recommend them every chance I get. Did I mention that they also have the best prices around?
