Question on 10 inch CRB |

Hey Rick,
Just bought a 10 inch CRB from Excellent Supply and love it!
I am amazed at the dirt that unit can remove from a carpet.
Word on the street says there is a longer handle, or handle extension, that will be available soon.
Since I am 6'2" I would love a longer handle.
Do you know when that will become available?

marketing/brand question |

My main go-to chemicals for encap is Excellent Supply's DS2, Hydrox and Punch using the HOS Orbot. Are these products considered "green", "eco-friendly" or "environmentally friendly"? My thought is that because I do not use HWE I am saving tons of gallons of water...which would be "eco-friendly".
What are you thoughts of marketing myself as eco-friendly on the water savings alone? If the chemicals are considered green then I am good to go.
Thanks all!

My experience with diluted leftover solutions... |

I have had some leftover dilution of DS2. The mix was strong with 6 oz per gallon. Have had it in a sealed Orbot container for more than a week and thought about using it today...felt a bit unsecure about the cleaning power and boosted the solution with 2 oz per gallon of Punch.
I know that it is recommend to use Punch as a pre spray, but in the case of the "old" solution i thought it would be worth a try...
The customer has a 15 year old CGD...never been cleaned with some heavy traffic lanes... I only worked with my MF pads with scrub stripes, kind of Microbeast pads. Worked great! Made a fast wet scrub pass in the offices and the hallway and came back to clean with a slower pass.
The carpet realy came back to life. As the carpet dried the colurs pooped up- as using some HydrOx or Hydrogen peroxide!
Just wanted to share my experience that diluted solutions in a sealed container still work and Punch as my booster gave the extra kick.

was in the market for a new op machine with on board spray system and this is what i ended up with for only $2020.00 as I won an auction over on mikeys board
Orbot Vibe Machine, 40lb Weight Kit, tile Scrub Brush, 1 Gallon of Environ, 5x SuperZorb Pads, 2x AgiClean Pads, AwkaStrip Pad, UltraLift Pad and FREE SHIPPING!
Total Package Retail Price = $3,327 So I saved $1307 and am a happy camper.
I also have a 15 inch CRB which i bought here from rick over two years ago and its still going strong and I love that thing.
Now for my questions.
As we all know, to pre vac is important while doing vlm SO
Question for all CRB owners, Which do you feel is more effective.
1. Vacuum then CRB
2.CRB then vacuum
I'm thinking number 2 would be better
Now since i will be vacuuming anyway prior to running the Vibe and yes I know i'm adding an extra step if i both CRB then vac with regular vacuum ( I use a Royal 14 inch)
what would you guys do 1 or 2
And now to make more work for myself , LOL but only on the really bad ones this is what i'm thinking of doing
1. CRB With collection trays of course
2.Vacuum
3. light pre spray (using my mytee big boss 5gal sprayer)
4. no dwell run the CRB right away for some agitation
5.run orbot with either super sorb bonnet or micro fibre with scrub strips while spraying some more as i go but not a lot more
spray as i don't want to over wet the carpet
6. post groom with either CRB (no collection trays) or simple carpet rake
Sounds like a lot I know 1st off using 4 different machines CRB, Vacuum, Vibe, and sprayer
the Vibe being the heavy one but very easy to transport with those big wheels other 3 no problem all light weight
I 90% of the time have a helper
My helper will be CRBing and vacuuming while i am getting the vibe and sprayer ready filling tank and mixing chems, getting pads etc..
when i'm done if he is still using the CRB, i'll grab the vacuum and start that going so that part goes pretty quick
Then its clean time
If carpets not that bad i would just eliminate the CRB agitation step,
Ok everyone go ahead and beat me up, make suggestions, tell me what you do

New Spotting Brush |

We just released our new spotting brush. We showed it at Mikey Fest and it was a hit! In fact it was even being used for tile and grout cleaning. It actually worked really well for T&G.
This new brush is more aggressive than the Zebra brush. If you're serious about carpet spotting - give this one a look. It has more bite for tough spots. And it has bristles that run all the way out to the edges so you can get right up to the wall. It also comes with a free quart of Encap-Spot.
We're selling it for $47. Special introductory pricing: For the month of March you can order the SpotzBrush / Encap-Spot Combo for $40 (and get free shipping). The special price will appear in the Shopping Cart. Click here: www.SpotzBrush.com

Using gliders... |

I clean many Needle Felt carpets...a very strong, hard and thin kind of cgd. I use all weight plates on the orbot and get very good and fast results. I only use on this carpet the SuperZorbs and noticed that they are getting thinner and thinner...
Thinking of using a glider. Will give it a try tomorrow on a 4400 sq fts office job. Does using a glider reduce the cleaning abilities? How is your experience?

In need of Veteran Guidance |

Hey guys.
Curious if you guys can help me out with approaching clients. I'm new to the industry and currently have all of the necessary cleaning equipment for low moisture cleaning. I work a 9-5 4 days of the week and have 3 days to work on finding clients for the carpet business.
I do not have any reputation myself, though i grew up cleaning carpets in HWE for my father who's been in business for 28+ years. ( I've Completely converted to Low moisture )
I understand the work side, but not the scouting/communicating side.
It's a huge stepping stone for me to find the jobs that i know i can clean. I just need a bit of guidance and veteran tips
I do not have a website/social media yet, so this means that at the moment all i can rely on is myself to find jobs.
Any tips on this subject is very much appreciated.
In specific, i'd like to know what it is that you first do when you are scouting new clientele.
For ex: Do you wait for calls to come in for estimates?
Do you scout around on your slow days, and if so What do you look for/When is it appropriate to walk in?
Who do you typically ask to speak to?
Do you get in contact with residential clients?
Maybe residential real estate people with lots of vacant houses?
What are your general price points via commercial/residential
ETC
Again i just need help on the business side of the industry vs the working side.
Just for those wanting to know what i am using. :CRB, Royal Vac, Vario w/ spray system, Plenty of different pads, pump sprayers, etc
I appreciate your responses tons in advance!
Samuel
