Thought I'd share with you some Cimex news, if you are thinking about purchasing a Cimex or still have some questions. Memorial Day Week is always our busiest week of cleaning of the year, why, not sure, although its Spring in PA and everyone needs their winter dirt cleaned up. We've been cleaning since 1980, and since 1980 I've had a Cimex. My first one is sadly gone, but a few years ago, found another nice used one on ebay. My original fiberglass Cimex tank however is still being used along with some patch and tape. Although I use and enjoy John G's Trinity machine for the residential carpet we do. For commercial jobs and stripping of floors we stick to the old Cimex. Yes, and I wonder why we are still stripping floors after 35 years, but I guess its in our blood. This week one of our customers is opening up an new restaurant, in an old building, the building was an old hardware store, the gondolas removed, and a 32 by 38 ft. section of the building is going to be a prep room/storage room. The guys put up some new wall and sprayed all the walls white with paint, overspray everywhere, old wax around the old shelving, tar, on the floor. The old Cimex, and alot of elbow grease cleaned up that old floor to look new again. Aside from a few rust stains, not coming out.
Then today, we had an 8 provider Dr. office, thats right, 8 docs and PA's working in a small office with a very large waiting room, trashed, the office manager said it looked like they have a ghetto office, although I'm not sure what a ghetto office looks like, but you get the picture. Again the Cimex with some of those white pads, who knew we would ever be using pads to clean carpet, I thought you buffed with pads. The managers words after seeing the finished product "My God", I think she was impressed. Thats on office with 32 other offices, am working on setting up a quarterly cleaning of the places. So, after 35 years, I still get occasionally impressed, and its the Cimex that can get you in the door, do all kinds of floor work with tile and carpet, and keep on running. These guys here at Excellent Supply seem to know all about the machine and can give all the help you need. Is it time to buy? Take it from me you won't be disappointed if you do.

I know the Cimex is the king of carpet. For you guys that do only carpet, more power to you (and I wish I had one, too).
But my business is mostly residential cleaning, with some commercial. In it, we clean hardwood floors, tile and yes, lots of carpet. A few months ago I got lucky and bought a used Duplex DP420 at a price that I figured "What the heck, at least I'll find out if CRB works."
Since then I've done hardwood, tile and carpet. What I've found is that 80,000 bristles at 720 rpm do a LOT of gentle, effective scrubbing on whatever you are cleaning. The brushes flick the dislodged gunk onto two little rubber belts that carry it up and wipe it off into a center tray. It isn't 100% perfect and I have to post-mop hard surfaces to get any remaining loose residues, but it is a fantastic piece of gear that does an amazing job.
On carpet, it brushes, lifts the nap and scrounges deep down for a thorough clean. Because it can recover as it brushes, you can make repeat passes over bad areas, drizzle cleaning solution to moisten and plow through the soil like a boss. It is not just dispersing the soil, it is capturing it along with all the hair, chunks of dog poop, flecks of debris and that gloppy stuff embedded deep in the fiber. Every so often, you'll simply empty the tray into a toilet or bucket and carry on. Figure 1000 feet/hour on CGD, 3-500 in a house.
Let me warn you that when you do empty the tray, you get rid of about a gallon of pure, concentrated evil. Prepare to be amazed and make sure your customer gets a good look at what you have taken out of his or her carpet!
There are a few drawbacks: It is a heavy (75 pounds) machine, so buy a good roll-around to transport it up and down stairs. There are plastic parts like the solution tanks and center tray, so don't slam it around carelessly. Using it is like eating chips, you keep getting fussier and fussier because you can. You have to take ten minutes to clean it up after each job so it's ready to go next day.
Other than that, it is so versatile that I am saving for a new one so we have two. As an all-rounder, it is a godsend. Excellent Supply sells them at a very good price, so when I buy new, here's where my money will go. In my opinion and for my little company, the Duplex DP420 is a perfect fit!

For the first time, I have a potential customer that has pee stains in their leather couch. What do you guys use to get the stain and smell out of the leather? Normally I just use my leather cleaner but I'd imagine I need something more.

Rick, I tried to put this on the review page, but somehow got booted by the code word. So this is for all yall on the forum:
Yesterday I found myself trying to clean some black, sticky duct tape residue from a carpet, everyone KNOWS how stubborn those lines are, right? After cleaning the area, I first tried Punch, which helped, but wasn't enough. If Punch won't do it, you have a problem!
So I got out my brand new quart of Encap-Spot and sprinkled the lines. Brushing the Encap-spot in with the edger brush (also sold here by Excellent Supply), the Encap-Spot blew those lines to Kingdom Come! Wow! The lines just melted away and the job was complete. I happen to know the customer had tried to clean them and hated those marks on his carpet, so this really mattered.
So okay, now I know and now you do, too. Encap-Spot has just become my Ace in the hole. Buy some. Order it now, before you encounter that next frustration.
Buy it!

I think that I need to thoroughly rinse an upcoming LR & hall (cgd over either hardwood or subflooring) with Releasit Punch then apply Hydrocide to deodorize. Do they play well together?

Well, we all know to be careful with our chemicals. Today I learned something about HydrOx, when at the end of the day, I opened the side door on my van.
A bottle of HydrOx had tipped over and when the door opened, it rolled out and hit the driveway, popping the cap off and sloshing HydrOx around. I picked it up and replaced the cap, but got concentrate on my hands
Guys, the stuff started to foam on my skin and to burn in. The peroxide is very strong! I had to go in and rinse my hands immediately. It was a good reminder to be super careful never to spill or splash the stuff; God forbid any of us gets it in our eyes.
Well, just file the info away and stay safe. Had a good residential job today, a good lesson at the end.

Hey everyone, Matthew here. I love the overall positive atmosphere of the board, and research showed me the products, machines, and chemicals at ES are all top notch. I guess you can only read so many posts before you have to personally ask for direction specific to your situation, so I figure I'd throw it out there. I'll try not to be too long and boring, but essentially I'm in a career right now and I'm moving toward retirement. There's no way I'm just going to sit back and relax all day after hustling so long, and given both my wife and myself used to assist our parents in a janitorial company they had put together years back, I was drawn to cleaning, most specifically encap commercial cleaning.
So, essentially time is on my side, so to speak, when it comes to setting things up for a business, and I just want to make sure I do it right. While I'm working now, I plan on getting the tools and marketing materials together to start slowly building up a few commercial accounts, networking, and gaining low moisture experience. Then, even after retirement, my company has a "part time" program where you can retire and go part time with the company (from 8-20 hours a week, your choice), so I can use that as a little bit of a cushion while I continue to build things up slow and steady.
I wanted to pick the brains of the encap pros though, if you had to set things up all over again, what choices for equipment, chemicals, marketing procedures would you make? What if you had $5000 to work with? $10000?
There's a few somewhat no brainers that I've read. The Cimex seems to be the King of the low moisture commercial world. A strong, reliable vacuum with attachments seems like a necessity (luckily I've got all kinds of things laying around from my janitorial assistance days). It looks like there's a whole plethora of chemicals ES makes, as well as pads and bonnets. Any suggestions on what worked well for you on those?
Then, if you wanted to cross into residential it seems the Cimex isn't appropriate. Would an OP be the versatile choice to work toward, or the CRB? What about commercial non-carpeted surfaces?
Anyhow, just some things on my mind. I've got time to get things together the right way, so I just want to make some good choices. Thanks for any information folks.

My question is if i have for example heavy traffic lanes should i scrub the prespray (Punch) or just spray it on the carpet and let it dwell?
I try different ways but i am not shure how the Releasit products work best.

| Add Punch to DS? |

G'day all,
When cleaning extra dirty carpet, can Punch be mixed (in the solution) with Releasit DS to give it a boost (rather than spraying traffic areas with Punch then overall with DS) ?
ie: could you make up some DS for standard jobs, and have some DS with Punch added for extra dirty jobs?
Thank you!

Grant.

So a search didn't help, could anyone explain what Encap-1 DS does and how it is different from the other products? When would I use it that DS2 or HydrOx or Punch wouldn't be better? That sort of thing.
Meanwhile, I just ordered another case of HydrOx, along with Encap spot remover and that gel. Good stuff. Hey Rick will the gel whiten and brighten my tusker yellow teef or do I just stick to pressure washing?
?
