Wink DS2
Posted by: Gkleen - 03-09-2013, 07:15 PM - Forum: GENERAL DISCUSSION - Replies (2)

Well I used my new batch of DS2 yesterday and today with the Cimex and am glad to report that it was an enjoyable experience. I HAD FOAM!!!!!!!!!

I quit using regular DS because of the smell when it got airborne and then quit using DS2 because it wouldn't foam.

But it is fixed now!

Good job Rick.

  Should I or shouldn't I ??
Posted by: Cairnswun - 03-09-2013, 08:36 AM - Forum: GENERAL DISCUSSION - Replies (5)

Decisions, decisions, why does life have to be so complicated??

I'm currently fitting out a new van, basically for encap;

I have my Cimex, Sprayborg, Oreck and Gem for all encap/O.P. work.

Plus I also have a CRB for Flotex flooring, (which I just found out my extractor also cleans well, see below).

NOW, on the extraction side, instead of a conventional spotter, I have a small porty with a 100psi pump and VERY POWERFUL vac; motor, it is manual fill and empty and holds about 5 gallons of water + 5 gallons of waste.

This will be used mainly for trashed upholstery after scrubbing with either Makita or Cyclo.

I also have a small 10" wand for this as well as the 360i for some terrible small carpet jobs (urine, Flotex, etcWink.

Now the problem......

I also have a t/m in the old van which I haven't hardly used in a couple of years.

I was thinking of slipping in the MasterBlend TF3500 I have into the new van, but looking at how often I need something like this??? I'm in a quandary as I feel the Sprayborg will do most anything, if not, I have the small extractor.

I would value any thoughts on this before I start cutting steel and bolting in. ;-)

Ta,

Shorty.

  8" Black Stripper Pads
Posted by: Derek - 03-09-2013, 12:32 AM - Forum: GENERAL DISCUSSION - Replies (3)

i recently read a thread on 1 of the forums about cutting your own 8" black stripper pads for stripping VCT. i remembered that i had cut some 9 years ago. well this afternoon we were at a repeat client's office cleaning up a bunch of tar spots. i prescrubbed with a heavy mix of encap and let it dwell. then i put on those black stripper pads and WOW do they cut through spots! this carpet is OLLLDDDD and ratty. it is near replacement, so i knew i could get away with using the black pads. NEVER use them on new / nice carpet! just a little trick for carpet that is already in rough shape and on the verge of replacement.

a good use for them might be a demo where the prospect says that they are going to replace the carpet unless your free demo can make a big enough difference. and even then, think wisely!

You comb someone's hair that has lice and then comb your hair with that comb?

Just wondering if you clean and sanitize your crb brushes after each job so you don't contaminate other rugs with things such as fleas, urine , grease, feces you get the point! This was why I always pre vacuumed with the customers vacuum. Currently I use my own vacuum better than most household vacs. I do clean and sanitize after each job. I also remove and clean brushes on crb.(sometimes a real drag carrying water in trailer as I would not clean at customer house. It would be bad to drag fleas into someone else's home. Do you feel it's needed?

  Mexican Restaurant question?
Posted by: Anew Carpet Cleaning OKC - 03-08-2013, 02:34 PM - Forum: GENERAL DISCUSSION - Replies (4)

I am giving a bid for on a Mexican restaurant Monday. Does anyone have any suggestions on a maintenance plan? I would have to bring someone else into hwe when needed, and I was planning on using my cimex or Orbot other times? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

For example do you need to hwe every time you clean?

Is a truck mount needed, or would a portable work?

The restaurant carpet is 8 years old and varies according to location, it has been maintained.

  grout

I feel I am an expert at VCT flooring, however when it comes to grouted tiles, I admit I am a newb.
I would like to be able to tell my customers that I could get their grout clean and I have tried to do so with stripper and wallbangers. Not too good of results there. Grout hardly looks any cleaner.
Would like to be able to use the Cimex and it's triple pad / dual direction action to do this.
Anyone else have any thoughts on this?
I know brushes would be important (I think), however I read where some use the Orbot. Is that with a brush too?
What chems work best to whiten grout?

I know the cimex is user friendly and productive but does it clean better

i am still behind the 175 with fiber plus pads and it works great and i can use the machine pretty easy.. will i see a difference in the cleaning when i do buy the cimex, or will it just make life easier and more productive
