Looking to expand into Carpet Cleaning - Whew! my first post
Posted by: mason417 - 02-03-2014, 09:07 PM - Forum: GENERAL DISCUSSION - Replies (5)

Hello Fine Gents,

I have been reading so much on here that my head is spinning.

A little about myself: I have recently started a more professional cleaning surface business. I polish and clean stone countertops, Remove hardwater stains from glass but specializing in shower doors and enclosures with sealants. Clean and seal small tile areas with color grouting sealing when I can.

I was doing these on side but now, I am going pro with it. I am now looking to expand to bigger tile cleaning jobs which has led me to your fantastic forum. I have been thinking about CRB machines to do tile and with all this education of reading your posts. I would like to include residential carpet cleaning as well. I promote my business as an Eco-Friendly business. I dont want to do truck mount or portables. I would like to mainly use CRB's but will look at rotary machines. By the way, I am looking to complete the IICRC certification course as soon its available in my area. I want to be above board and have all the right tools and certs to be the best I can.

Ok boys, throw whatever advice you have for me, I have my catchers mitt on and ready to go.

Thank you for any information

Rich

  Browning or Water Damage?
Posted by: IDreamEncap - 02-03-2014, 05:09 PM - Forum: GENERAL DISCUSSION - Replies (14)

    Hello Everyone!

Been trolling this board for some time now and finally signed up. New to the encap side of the business and excited to apply what I've read so far.

Need some advice. Recently picked up a commercial job. Following up after someone else who did a number on the carpets. Long story short, previous cleaner used hwe (I don't have a problem with hwe. In fact, I think its great.). Too much solution was used and they did not properly rinse or recover the water during the cleaning. In addition, the work was done on a Friday evening and they closed the doors after flushing. Absolutely no airflow in this place.

Does anyone know where I'm going with this? There is either a severe amount of browning or water stain as a result of the previous cleaning. I'm posting a picture for your review. I'm thinking of ordering Hydrox to reverse or help with the situation. Your input is greatly appreciated.

One more thing. I did go into this place to post pad as well as pad cap to see if it would budge. No success on either end. Thanks everyone!

  CRB - A little longer
Posted by: richgallina - 02-03-2014, 12:06 PM - Forum: GENERAL DISCUSSION - Replies (8)

Two weeks ago at this time I was rushed to the ER by ambulance. Abdominal pain, shortness of breath and getting sick and everything else. I wont go into detail about that. They did a CT scan and chest x-ray. Everything they said was clean and no problems. They sent me home and said I'll be fine. About 45 minutes later I was back in the ER and was stuck in the hallway for like 45 minutes and then put in a room for over an hour and a half. Went to the bathroom and blacked out. From here on I don't remember but my wife filled me in. I was bleeding internally and was about to lose my life. They put 3 units of blood in me and had to do a endoscopy and singe some ulcers. The ER was horrible as I was there for 8 1/2 hours the first time then sent me home. The same thing happened to my brother and they just said it was a stomach ache. When he went home to NC he went back into the ER and ended up stage 3b cancer. At 40 I wasn't ready for this. Things are good now and I'm going back to work today.

Saturday I got a bill from the ambulance for $1000 and was not expecting that and now I'll probably get 2 ER bills since they sent me home the first time. This means I have to save up for the CRB again. Sorry Rick, it'll come soon enough. Although all this has happened I'm feeling very blessed so that I can watch my 3 and 6 year old grow up.

I've touched on this subject before but was a while ago. What are you using for encap. pads?
I really have to get new ones for my OP!

Had a phone call day before yesterday, "hey Shorty, get all you gear down to the barge tomorrow, barge leaves the following day for Lizard Island, we have you booked to fly up on the 5th".

So, it was a quick run into town to get empty boxes, etc; to pack up my beloved Cimex and a stack of other gear that I need to clean all furnishings, mats, etc; plus apply protection.

Got it all packed and down to the shipping office with a couple of hours to spare, even had time to pack it all into a secure cage for the trip to Lizard Island.

It's times like this that I really appreciate having two of the same item, or in the case of the Cimex, I have a Sprayborg, so that I can carry on with work.

Last night it was into a jewellery shop with the Sprayborg, normally I would have taken in Big Yella.

On Monday, I have about 800M2, at the local horse racing track, which will have to be done with the Sprayborg. Sad

800 Square Meters = 8,611.1283333678 square feet.

Tuesday I have a stack of upholstery, all to be done with the Makita polisher &/or Cyclo machine.

One can never have too many toys. Big Grin

Now is the time to come see me in Cairns, (if I'm not on Lizard Island).

Airfares and accommodation are at an all time low for you blokes and sheilas.

Here's a pic or two from the Cairns ORIGINAL Botanic Gardens Restaurant where we had brekki this morning after a cancellation of a five hour job at our local member of parliament's office due to road closures for Chinese New Year celebrations.

Smoked salmon with poached eggs & Hollandaise sauce over sourdough bread for me.

And my little bowlaccinno.

S.W.M.B.O. had waffles, poached egg & bacon with maple syrup.

All finished and full as a goog..........

  Clicking sound from cimex
Posted by: leofry@1966 - 01-30-2014, 08:26 AM - Forum: GENERAL DISCUSSION - Replies (7)

this has been gong on awhile not sure how long, the cimex still does the great job its always done since day one, but there is this annoying clicking sound. It does not always do it, and it stops sometimes during cleaning and you think man i am glad that stop but then a few minutes later it starts again. I first thought it might have been a little piece of a rock or something that feel between the guard and the motor but i don't thing that's it.

any ideas on what it could be ?
